Sen. Mark R. Warner (D) is bringing in some heavy artillery in favor of his campaign. Former U.S. senator John W. Warner, a five-term Republican who retired in 2009, is appearing on television in support of his Democratic successor.
In Congress to get things done you gotta have the guts to cross the aisle and reach bipartisan agreement, John Warner tells the camera. Thats what I did, thats what Mark Warner does today. While we come from different parties, we both believe in putting Virginia first. I know Mark Warner. Hes decisive, experienced and has courage.
The end of the ad shows the two senators talking together.

Party unity, and all that jive.
John Warner was born a Republican.
But he never was a Republican. He was Republican in name only, and has been endorsing democrats for many years. He usually would say the Republican was “too conservative,” as if there can be such a thing. But Ed Gillespie is a typical moderate national Republican, and John Warner can’t even endorse him?
When Mark Warner ran for US Senate against John Warner, I fully expected John Warner to endorse him.
The one quote I always remember about John Warner is that Liz Taylor screwed his brains out and he never found them again afterward.
Tell me again why the XXXX I’m supposed to support the Republican Party Elite at all costs, at all times, and in all things???
:)
This is the same Warner who REFUSED to support Oliver North after he won the primary. And we are asked to throw ourselves on the train tracks for any lefty with an R.
I have to say I am surprised to see a Republican endorse the candidacy of a Democrat. Election time is usually the only time we can tell the difference between the two parties.
Someone remind me again why I’m just supposed to mindlessly pull the lever for Republicans in November.
THe inside the beltway (yes that is intended as an insult to those in DC) crowd think of the senate as a private country club where THEY decide who becomes a member.

Non-Democrat Senate majority imperative
Great endorsement from one of Elizabeth Taylor’s 7 husbands, 8 if you are counting Burton twice.
