TED CRUZ: CITY OF HOUSTON'S SUBPOENAS OF PASTORS 'SHOCKING & SHAMEFUL'

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Senator Ted Cruz has weighed in regarding the controversial subpoenas that the City of Houston sent to several Houston area pastors, demanding copies of their sermons and speeches, as well as communications with church members.

As reported by Breitbart Texas, the dispute stems from an anti-discrimination ordinance passed by Houston regarding discrimination based on gender and sexual orientation. The pastors' churches were part of a coalition of hundreds of churches in the Houston area that opposed the ordinance. After a referendum petition seeking to get a repeal measure on the November ballot was tossed out over allegations that the petition signature gatherers were not qualified under Texas law, a lawsuit was filed, but the pastors were not a part of the litigation. The pastors have obtained legal representation and filed a motion to quash the subpoenas, arguing that they were an illegal demand of their "their constitutionally protected sermons and other communications."

Cruz agreed with the pastors and their attorneys, releasing a statement Wednesday that echoed the religious liberty and free speech arguments they made. "I'm proud to stand with the pastors," said Cruz. "Religious liberty is the very first protection in the Bill of Rights, the foundation of all our liberties. The City of Houston’s subpoenas demanding that pastors provide the government with copies of their sermons is both shocking and shameful. For far too long, the federal government has led an assault against religious liberty, and now, sadly, my hometown of Houston is joining the fight. This is wrong. It's unbefitting of Texans, and it's un-American."

The senator also criticized the subpoenas as a "grotesque abuse of power" by the city government. "The government has no business asking pastors to turn over their sermons. These subpoenas are a grotesque abuse of power,

Is there any doubt now that Ted Cruz is destined to be our President in 2016?

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again and I’ll keep saying it as long as necessary:

TED CRUZ IS A ONCE IN A GENERATION AND PERHAPS LIFETIME SUPERSTAR LEADER WHO IS SO QUICK IN HIS THINKING AND POLITICAL INSTINCTS THAT HE WILL TAKE HIS PLACE BESIDE AND LIKELY SURPASS RONALD REAGAN AS THE ICON OF CONSERVATISM.

HE IS DESTINED TO BE PRESIDENT; NOTHING CAN STOP IT.

And he is proposing a brilliant solution to the current madness which includes the subject of this thread:

that should if necessary be carried out using my tagline.

Ted Cruz will be a better President than Ronald Reagan because he has the benefit of hindsight, because he is extraordinarily sharp and quick in perceiving threats to the Constitution and in devising responses and solutions.

I read that Ted Cruz’ father was instrumental in his primary and secondary education encouraging him to join debate societies where he was required to memorize the US Constitution and to study its rich and inspired history. Ted Cruz became a debate champion at Princeton and a stellar law student at Harvard.

Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz had this to say about Ted Cruz:

http://dailycaller.com/2013/05/09/dershowitz-tex-cruz-one-of-harvard-laws-smartest-students/

Not many people realize how smart, witty and quick Ronald Reagan was but Ted Cruz surpasses RR in these attributes.

Now being smart is not a guarantee that a person will be a great or even wise leader. Wise and great leadership also requires being quick and accurate in response. An example of Ted Cruz’ incredible response speed:

and there are so so many more examples.

2ndDivisionVet please post the Oval Office photo of our future President!

That’s funny, I did not see any release from Rand Paul.

>> this is more after the fashion of Lenin and Stalin and the old NKVD.

This isn’t really in the mold of ANY of the old style totalitarians.

THIS is a “new thing”. It is a glimpse of the height and breadth and depth of the ruthlessness of the Faggot Mafia. Breathtaking ruthlessness and arrogance like the world has never seen before.

Of course, the real puppet-master behind this nameless, faceless, sodomite movement is satan himself. He is the master deceiver, thief, murderer and destroyer — even Stalin and Hitler were pikers compared with the lord of darkness.

If I were one of the church pastors, I’d tell the City of Houston, “FU and God Bless”.

An*s Parker wouldn’t back down on the red light cameras either. She even renegotiated the contract in the favor of the private company to thwart our attempts to “break contract”.

When she does things that the voters disapprove of (and get countermeasures added to the ballot despite her objections and legal opposition on the public tax dollar), she does everything in her power and beyond to tell the voters to F*** OFF.

This is not her first time to pull such shenanigans. And I see her being power mad to run for higher office in Texas (possibly even a national seat) at some point.

It may be the first time that she has ruffled the feathers of black pastors who were formerly supporters of hers.

Raphael Cruz is the real deal. Though I haven’t spoken with him personally I’ve been in the same room with him several times and know several people that speak to him pretty often that have spent considerable time with him and driving him around to speaking engagements. They all tell me he is who he appears to be on and off camera. He would talk about politics and the Constitution with Ted around the table all the time whenever they had meals. This instilled a strong sense of patriotism in him beginning at an early age.

Reg’d. Reagan’s wit, yes, I completely concur. I look at the schlubs putatively on our side, and I ask myself, “Does John Cornyn see himself as Reaganesque?” Dear God, I hope that his delusions come in under that size. Look at any of them with robust opinions of themselves: Boehner, McConnell, Barbour, Gingrich, Paul, etc..

I watch Reagan videos for fun. I’m not US born, and I’m under the age of the ‘Reaganites’, but I revere and miss the man. I will look for evidence of Cruz’s quick wit. Thank you for alerting me to it.

In this case I stand corrected, still Cruz made a much bigger issue of it with a full press release.

No real Christian will obey this, and the nominal Christians don’t preach against sodomy anyway.
