Fear factor: Ebola, Islamic State hurt Democrats’ chances of keeping Senate

As fear sweeps the nation about the prospect of Islamic State terrorists winning in Iraq and the Ebola virus spreading in the United States, President Obama’s job approval rating is taking a beating and some Democrats’ hopes for keeping the Senate majority are losing ground.

Sen. Kay R. Hagan of North Carolina, who entered the race as one of the most endangered Democrats but managed to hold a lead for most of the campaign season, suddenly was overtaken by Republican Thom Tillis in a SurveyUSA poll this week, 46 percent to 45 percent.

In liberal-leaning New Hampshire, Republican Scott Brown has closed in on incumbent Democrat Jeanne Shaheen. He trailed Ms. Shaheen 48 percent to 46 percent in a High Point/SurveyUSA poll.

The Republicans could put together quite an ad from the headlines. Something along these lines, but you could find even better headlines

Is the world safer than it was 6 years ago?

4,491 Americans died to make Iraq a free and democratic country, in the hope that freedom would make it less of a threat to Americans at home. They were so successful that Obama himself claimed, “we’re leaving behind a sovereign, stable and self-reliant Iraq” when he withdrew in violation of the recommendations of our military experts. Obama allowed ISIS to turn that success into a catastrophic failure that now threatens to our security.

Obama appointed a partisan anti-gun hack to the CDC position, and nominated another partisan anti-gun hack for Surgeon General, despite knowing that nomination would never be confirmed. Obama could have closed our borders to casual travelers from West Africa, while leaving them open to humanitarian aid workers. In other words, we have no qualified leadership to deal with real medical issues. Obama could have sent a real CDC team to Dallas but did nothing until he found out on the news (where he gets all bad news) that two Americans had been infected because of his mistakes.

The reaction to this isn’t a “fear factor” hurting democrat chances. A more accurate description would be that unmistakable gross incompetence is hurting democrat chances.

Here are a FEW of the problems American have with Obama:

2013 Obama says he “will not negotiate with people with a bomb strapped to their chest” in reference to tea party supporters who are against raising the debt ceiling.
The IRS is not targeting anyone.
If four Americans get killed, it is not optimal.

You can keep your current healthcare plan

ObamaCare will cost less than 1 Trillion Dollars.
