Medical crews surround aircraft at Logan Airport

BOSTON —Medical crews in hazmat suits have responded to an arriving plane at the international terminal at Logan Airport.

A source told NewsCenter 5 that six passengers on board the flight had become sick.

The plane, an Emirates airliner that had arrived from Dubai, was surrounded by ambulances and emergency responders in white and yellow suits.

Massport, which runs the airport, did not respond to several phone messages on the nature of the incident.

However, international airports around the country are on alert for Ebola, though there was no indication that was related to the emergency response.

Why should they? Neither Houston nor NYC has a hospital the caliber of Mass. General.

Rochester, Minnesota does.

Well it's probably not ebola because it takes at least a couple of days for symptoms to develop. It's probably sympathetic vomiting from being in an enclosed airplane with someone spewing or bad airplane food.

And if it is Ebola, don't worry. Ebola is so hard to catch that nobody has ever caught it. /s

Does this appear to be leading to any surprises with local, state or national office elections in TX?

Hopefully the Leander store will be open by then.

There is already a new HEB in Leander near 2243 and 183.

We could be looking at complete panic by then.

We could be looking at martial law by then.

Well, if we’re going full Clancy here, they just misjudged the timing on becoming symptomatic.

But they’re reporting flu-like symptoms.

According to the Mayo Clinic:

Food poisoning symptoms vary with the source of contamination. Most types of food poisoning cause one or more of the following signs and symptoms:

Signs and symptoms may start within hours after eating the contaminated food, or they may begin days or even weeks later. Sickness caused by food poisoning generally lasts from a few hours to several days.

Sounds flu-like to me. I wonder if they are running fevers.

There are callers from all over Texas and the country who listen to that show on the net. Not many are happy with the current situation in DC, especially with dingy hairy and the dim controlled senate.

The house passed a number of bills and dingy hairy never brought them to the floor. Believe me, people are starting to take note. One caller today said we should not reelect a single incumbent. I have one exception, Ted Cruz.

For some reason I’m really thinking this was a Hajj flight.

To Dubai to get the hotel rooms settled and stocked, then off to Mecca where they get infected, then back for a few days partying in Dubai, then back to Boston. Maybe all felt a little sick in Dubai and flew back to Boston sooner than they planned.

Dr. on FNC just said he suspects MERS.

Very good question.

5 passengers have been removed and brought to area hospitals. Family members dont think it’s ebola. Others are all still on board. None of the sick were in west Africa.

I thought the Saudis were not allowing West Africans to make the Hajj.

Even if they did all catch Ebola in Mecca, it would still be very unlikely that they would all fill all in the time taken for the flight. The incubation period varies from 2 days to 21+ days.

Very good question.

Take a look at the information in this thread, from a very credible source*:

To summarize, for the following reasons we believe that Ebola could be an opportunistic aerosol-transmissible disease requiring adequate respiratory protection: •Patients and procedures generate aerosols, and Ebola virus remains viable in aerosols for up to 90 minutes. •All sizes of aerosol particles are easily inhaled both near to and far from the patient. •Crowding, limited air exchange, and close interactions with patients all contribute to the probability that healthcare workers will be exposed to high concentrations of very toxic infectious aerosols. •Ebola targets immune response cells found in all epithelial tissues, including in the respiratory and gastrointestinal system. •Experimental data support aerosols as a mode of disease transmission in non-human primates.

Risk level and working conditions suggest that a PAPR will be more protective, cost-effective, and comfortable than an N95 filtering facepiece respirator.

CIDRAP: "We Believe There Is Scientific Evidence Ebola Has The Potential To Be Airborne"

(* "The Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP; "SID-wrap") is a global leader in addressing public health preparedness and emerging infectious disease response. Founded in 2001, CIDRAP is part of the Academic Health Center at the University of Minnesota." )

I wish KLBJ would put Ed on in the PM with Jeffro werd and put Debra Cole on in his place. He is too liberal for me to listen to and always interrupts callers or SGT Sam.

The 5 sick passengers were, according to WCVB, previously in MECCA on a pilgrimage. WCVB notes further that Emirates was the first major airline to suspend service to West Africa. Via @bostinino

Ladies and gentlemen, we have our October surprise. Keep the citizens from thinking about the upcoming election in the hopes of squeaking through the RATs to allow them at least a 50/50 hold on the Senate (and control with Biden @ 50/50).

No, this will get anybody who does vote want to vote the death bringers out. This is a total political disaster for dems.

One things moms understand is that this president endangered their family by not stopping ebola in Africa but allowed it to fly here. Even the most selfish person understands that the ass party might have put his life in danger.
