"Who cares about cosmic inflation during the first seconds of the universe's existence when black people are getting shot left and right by police officers and vigilantes?" That is what Chanda Hsu Prescod-Weinstein, a postdoctoral fellow in physics at MIT, thought to herself upon hearing the news from Ferguson.
Are black people getting shot left and right by police officers and vigilantes?
***********
Feel free to peruse the FBI numbers yourself. I personally find them easier to understand than the “the first seconds of the universe’s existence.” Here is what I get from that data.
Of course, the issue is never the issue. Ferguson is not about an epidemic of white cops shooting African-Americans. There is no such epidemic. Like most other “crises” that grace the front pages and TV screens, this one is made up. Made up to support political agendas.
Unfortunately, facts don’t matter. And for those with the agendas, neither does Ferguson.

They’re getting shot left and right by other blacks.
Jeez, it's like watching a train wreck.
Someone’s not good at factoring windage.
Sounds like a Jimmy Buffet song.
Good lord!
How about Mohammed Ishikawa Sanchez-Goldberg?
I made that up, but there really is a Mohammed Goldberg on facebook.
It’s more the environment and culture and fatherless households they are raised in than anything else.
Skin color wouldn’t even make the chart of “causes”.
Smart woman, yet a damn idiot.
It’s a bit humbling for a post-doc in physics to be so easily misled by faulty evidence. I had hoped someone involved in such a rigorous area of study would be more skeptical of unsupported things she heard.
Once upon a time, sadly.
But MIT has been infected by "foolish leftist university administrator disease", which has resulted in diminishing the impact of values such as merit and academic achievement and excellence, and replacing them with squishy, faux, Orwellian doublespeak replacements such as racial and gender-based "fairness".
The devastating effects of the march of the leftist goons through formerly excellent institutions is disheartening.
Indian Chinese Scottish and Jewish. Sounds like a law firm specializing in international contracts.
The length of he name alone comprises a thesis.
I forgot to add if they stop shooting each other and anyone else the gun violence would drop dramatically..
Oops not PC to suggest self responsibility.
They sure are!
By Black People!
I shudda read ahead...
“...shot left and right.”
Huh. Obviously more range time is called for. Center mass, ya know.
“She’s a cosmologist with a bachelors in Physics and Astronomy and Astrophysics from Harvard, an MA in Masters in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, a PhD in theoretical physics afor the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics and the University of Waterloo and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at MIT.”
“Chanda Hsu Prescod-Weinstein is currently a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Postdoctoral Fellow in Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. “
Her degrees look OK, but that last part looks fishy.
Here we go, another hypenated hyper mouth.
Just like another named Chappelle-Nidal.
What is this crap, some kind of assumed royalty?

Without further ado, (in no particular order, despite the fact that there are numbers :) here are 73 fabulous Black women who are scientists (starting with myself): #18

I'm a cosmologist, which means that my day job is to try to figure out how the universe and the stuff in it evolved, from the beginning until now. I'm what you call a pencil and paper theorist, so I do a lot of calculus by hand. I use tools like General Relativity and Quantum Field Theory regularly.
Fun Fact: I absolutely LOVE watching Korean dramas and listening to Korean pop music. My favorite group — by total coincidence — is BigBang!
Well, maybe they wouldn’t be getting shot if they were not STANDING WHERE THE BULLETS WERE FLYIN’!! OH OHHHHH... (Sorry, a little Sam Kinison there).
Reading this entire thread just made me shake my head and wonder...
Why is the obvious... well, obvious to most of us regular folk and totally invisible to people who deem themselves smarter, better informed and more relevant in the larger scheme of things than we are?
It's baffling.
