This is the Navy Warship of the Future

John F. Kennedy became famous because of his heroics on the PT 109. Maybe he could have become commander of the universe if he piloted the Navy warship of the future. It’s called The Ghost.

Built by Juliet Marine Systems, a private company in Portsmouth, N.H., it’s designed to fight swarm attacks, water-born IEDs, and, aargghh, piracy. According to Business Insider, “Ghost is intended to have zero radar signature, and the vessel is supposedly difficult for the enemy to spot, let alone target. The ship is nonmagnetic and hard to detect via sonar, making it ideal for infiltration and surveillance of enemy areas.”

Kennedys - Can’t drink, Can’t fly, Can’t ski, Can’t skipper a boat.

But they know what’s best for us.

I think the Yamato and Musashi were the most beautiful battleships ever.

They did not perform particularly well, mostly because they never really got the chance.

Let’s try that again.....

Kennedys - Can’t drive, Can’t fly, Can’t ski, Can’t skipper a boat.

But they know what’s best for us.

Your; "...but he also said having your PT boat rammed by a ship was the worst thing that could happen to a PT boat commander."

Indeed. Kennedy lost his command, the most nimble warship type afloat, to ramming. This normally results in being at the end of a long green table without a chair.

P.T. boat vs. ship. Pretty heroic to get your Porsche rammed by a Buick.

The sea hippies duplicated the feat years later with the Ady Gil previously called Earthrace.
And improved on it, when sea shepherd got their boat run down, it was like getting your brand new corvette rammed by a Yugo diesel.

Would it have made a difference if we didn't go???

IMNSHO, yes. Having done what we did, makes the decay of the country under Obunga so much more stark.

JFK, for all his flaws, did give the country a vision. Until Zero came along to dismantle everything, that capability and vision were pretty much still in place.

My biggest beef with him is starting the RVN fiasco and getting over 50k of my brothers killed.

They were beautiful ships and took a real pounding before sinking. I wonder how many of their crew made it out alive?

How about the program to land men on the moon in 10 years?

...

It was Von Braun who started us on the path to the moon in the 1950’s. The first Saturn boosters were built while Eisenhower was in office. JFK was simply responding to Soviet accomplishments in space.

I read that an American submarine hit the Yamato fairly early with a single torpedo and it nearly sank.

The Japanese realized there was a real defect in it’s armor and put it in dry dock to correct it. I have no idea what it was.

I think it took 19 torpedoes to finally finish it off along with however many bombs etc.

Accomplished more than Obama in 6 years

No modern day president can even hold a candle to what Obama has accomplished in just 6 years.

I name two;

War on coal, he promised to destroy the coal industry. His EPA has just announced they are closing a lot of coal plants; enough plants will close that the equivalent of all of the homes west of the Mississippi will be left without electricity. Can you name one president who comes close to doing that? You can't.

Our health insurance and care system, I don't even have to outline that. Even the Clintons couldn't hold a candle to what he has already done in that sector.

Would it have made a difference if we didn't go???

Yes. A great deal of technology you enjoy today came directly from that program. There are literally thousands of offshoots. What I remember most is pride in the United States and frequent news events that were exciting. Nowadays, news is usually bad and centers around the decay of American culture.

I take it that you did not live during those times. Too bad, you really missed something grand.

I think it was around 14 torpedoes for Yamato and 11 for Musashi. However I read about it in a book long long ago so the memory may not be exact. The book was called The End of the Imperial Japanise Navy. Aa great read with many rare photos. I highly recommend it.

So Basically the DO want to re-create the PT Boat.

Wood isn't magnetic and I would love to see a swarm of Dumb Torpedoes being fired at a modern warship.

Can Hack or Disable TNT with a Propeller.

Simplest is always the best.

Wasn’t there a picture of the future Navy with John Fraud skippering back in ‘04? The one with the wind in his hair.
