“I have no problem with this.”

You have problems in your thinking. Your social engineering is right in line with the liberal agenda

Sounds like the son of a bit@h coming out with this policy has never been shelled and had their shaking hands calmed afterward by a cigarette.

I smoked for almost 60 years, but when I was in the Army {civil war era... 1959-1962} a CARTON of Camels in Germany at the PX was $ .90, YEP, NINETY CENTS for 200 Camel cigarettes.

They could then be traded for many favors from the local wymen {if one was so inclined}, I, however, never indulged in such debauchery.

As I posted on another thread, after a long day of insuring that the gooks did not qualify your parents to receive the $10,000 death benefit, nothing tasted better than a Camel.

To lay back and let the nicotine relax your mind and stop the shakes. It was better than sex, sorry girls.

smoking...“kill more soldiers and sailors than wars do,”

The cost to our military is significant.

What the hell is wrong with you? You want to prevent something a grunt might find soothing to save you a few pennies down the road. That man might be dead in a few days. And here in safety, you’d deny something very small he might get some small comfort from.

“Saw an older man recently finish a smoke, rub it out on a fence, and then begin to dismantle the butt. He peeled off all the paper and tore it into tiny pieces. Then he shredded the filter into about thirty strands of fiber and scattered all the pieces. You really had to look close to notice anything resembling a cigarette. When I asked him about it he said he “field stripped” it and that’s how the did it when he was in the Army.”

Yeah, what a country, we want to ban soldiers smoking but send them to do non military work in an Ebola hostile enviornment. Somewhere I do not see the logic in all that.

Could buy them in Berlin in 1991 for $3.00 a carton. I thought *that* was good :)

Our ship's store ran out of smokes during our last deployment. People were paying $20 a pack from those fellow sailors who were smart enough to stock up in Dubai, Oman and Bahrain (where an entire carton of Marlboros sold for $20).

This is what'll happen if the ships stop selling smokes.

Personally, I think it's a moot point. I fully expect the U.S. Navy to ban smoking on ships in the near future. Most of the sailors I serve with have turned to vaping anyways.

Ships and bases are workplaces.

Your employer has clear Constitutional rights to limit certain activities within the workplace.

If you dislike your employer’s rules, you are completely free to look for a new job or start your own business.

Or, if you disagree with the Constitution and the Supreme Court, you are completely free to file a new lawsuit, or seek a Constitutional Amendment, or run for president and nominate your own Supreme Court judges.

That’s not a liberal solution.

That’s a Libertarian solution.
