It should be aboriginal people’s day if they want to celebrate. They could roast a human or two and relive the canibal condition in which Columbus discovered them. As far as indigenous goes, my people showed up about 1690 so I reckon I am as indigenous as any of the American Indians.

We should create a "National Moronic Idiots Day" in honor of the jackasses that come up with this crap...

I’ve read a couple of his “Don’t Know Much about” books.

He’s right. He doesn’t know much.

You know, I’m getting tired of people trying to dismantle the United States clear down to the fiber of the clothing our Founder’s wore.

I realize Columbus Day has changed a bit as other discoverer’s accomplishments came along, but Columbus was a major part of the New World discovery, and there’s nothing wrong with having a day for him.

It was subsequent to his discovery or re-discovery that the Americas were opened up. That’s significant.

Screw the people who are trying to diminish Columbus. Let them go screw around with another nation’s history.

Well, the liberals in the media who carry water for liberal causes, have decided it is controversial. Thus, from now on, the media will always report on the alleged controversy of Columbus Day, even if the controversy is only in their own minds.

yup- just like the Soprano’s, another way to stick it to Italians...

i saw about five minutes of this sketch and they talked about how “mean” Columbus was...then I thought about the stories of indians scalping indians from other tribes, quartering them with horses, tying wet deer skin around skulls, etc...

Uh, no, Italians aren’t giving up this day we’ve celebrated since more than a century ago.

In fact, me & Vito & the boys are headed over to this guy’s house who says we’re supposed to give up Columbus Day, and we’re gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse.

I certainly hope we don’t have to break somebody’s knees, I really mean that, capisch?

As QT3.14 pointed out in post #19 the Seattlunatics have already perpetrated this idiocy. As a direct consequence I have repeatedly referred to it as Redskin Day (or cannibal day, or Stone-age Savage Day) - much to the leftie’s consternation.

I guess this mezns MLK day goes too??

How about Veterans Day being only for those who served?

Thanksgiving, well, only for those who give thanks to the Creator for their bounty...the others can suck on a lemon.

Christmas, see Thanksgiving.

New Years Day, well, since the indignenous did not have a calendar which noted Jan 1st as New Years Day, screw them, they can live by some tribal calendar.

St Patricks Day, well, since he drove the snakes out of Ireland, perhaps we should celebrate snakes here that day.

They better leave Memorial Day alone.

July 4th, a temporary day which gets more temporary day as time goes on unfortunately.

This is just white Leftists being provocative.

But I am surprised we never had some kind of American Indian Day. Seems like something we would have had from colonial times.

My indigenous people showed up on May 14, 1607 and hooked up with the previous indigenous people so my indigenousness out indigenouses your indigenousness, neener, neener. Heck, at some point, we all crawled out of caves.

They’ve been whining about Columbus Day for decades and it’s still on the calendar. No one is going to take away a government paid holiday.

There is far, far more human slaughter and sacrifice in modern America, but today it is considered casual and trivial.

Our culture has absolutely no moral superiority in this subject.

The former Columbia University is now the University of Karl Marx, the District of Columbia is now renamed taxes, laws, kickbacks and corruption Center (TLKC), the Columbia River is now the indigenous wsterway, Columbia Studios is now Overpriced entertainment inc. and the Columbia space shuttle disaster is now the indigenous rocket oopsy.
