It's an employment contract, not a suicide pact.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

No aircraft cleaners. No nurses. Next no janitors or maids in hotels, then office buildings. Then trains and buses.

So much for the vaunted first-world hygiene and cleanliness being the factor that stops this disease in its track.

When this happens within 50 miles of your home, it is time to start following a bug out or bug down protocol.

When the nurses start refusing to go to work, you know the end is coming. They like caring for patients. Most generally take much greater risks than the normal person.

When they leave the ship, it’s taking on water. (I am NOT calling them rats. I am saying they will know when the ship is going to sink.)

LOL, you are supporting the medics leaving the field as the sick start showing up?

Why?

I for one support your decision. An outbreak of Ebola in the USA is nearly totally preventable IF our own government didn't want it to spread to the USA. Banning ALL flights and ALL passengers trying to get into the USA from ANY EBOLA INFECTED COUNTRY is utter common sense and the first and foremost decision and action President OBOLA and his entire so-called "administration" should be implementing.

BUT the utterly incompetent King OBOLA, the CDC and liberal PC DEMONcrats will have none of it. They are INTENTIONALLY ALLOWING EBOLA TO INFECT U.S. CITIZENS AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THEIR POLICIES. This horrible disease has a 50 to 90 plus percent death rate! Those who get infected die horriffic deaths and his is what OBOLA and his DEMONcrat enablers are INTENTIONALLY foisting on all of America EXCEPT FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR PROTECTED CLASS OF FOB's ("Friends of OBOLA").

Your first responsibility is not to some Ebola infected illegal alien who intentionally LIED to get into the country and who didn't give a darn about who he infected just so long as he got treated. Neither is it to anyone else infected with this rabid disease. Your first responsibility is to yourself, and your family. By in large those who get Ebola are already dead. They just spent $500,000 DOLLARS on trying to keep one Ebola infected illegal alien alive and he died. Think of the many hospital staff who could have been infected in the hospital by this one individual! For those who say "that can't or won't happen here" the answer is tell that to the multitudes of professional doctors and health care workers who have already been infected and DIED in the course of treating those infected with Ebola in spite of all of the "precautions" and "safety procedures".

Don't concern yourself with what others may say or think about you. You are making the right decision. If I were dying of Ebola the last thing I would want to do is endanger the lives of anyone else. Ebola is a death sentence for the overwhelming majority of those who are infected and for EVERYONE they intentionally or unintentionally infect! If you want to see where this is all heading I would strongly advise you to watch the movie CONTAGION it is one of the finest, accurate, non-sensationalized representations of what we face ever put on film.

May God bless you for all that you do. STAY SAFE for the sake of your family and loved ones.

They are an embarrassment to their profession.

Spain’s medical establishment is sure not looking good so far.

Since you have all the answers why don't you volunteer and show us all how it's done?

I’m an ICU RN and I think young mothers who are RN’s should be kept well back from the Ebola scourge. Let grizzled 50 somethings males(like myself) or females whose children are grown handle patients with Ebola. I’ll arrange to quarantine myself from my family while such patients are in my care and do what I’m charged to do. I just can’t see myself shrinking back from any patient who has ebola or enterovirus 68d.

There there, don’t fret...let me put on my cape and take my super energy pill and I shall personally save you Laz from all harm. ( just joking)

Seriously though, if something like this got going in our country it will take experienced mature healthcare personnel to beat this back. This disease will kill some of us nurses despite our best efforts. You think I’m gonna be like Shiite Muslims soldiers who dropped their guns when ISIS said “boo!”

I will reserve the right as I’m sweating in my PPE suit to curse Obama and damn all progressives for having brought us to this state. I’ll enjoy watching the consternation of politically correct managers alternating between wanting to punish me and the realization that I’m one of the few who will “go in there”!

Sir,
You are mad. Stark raving, barking, mad.

This is a slate clearing virus. Not an opponent that can be bluffed with bravado. Not a person who could be impressed with a show of force. An unthinking, unfeeling, virus.

Have you worked with such things before? Seen them? Understood them? The nurses in Spain were told by superiors that they would be safe. They followed orders, and now one of their own lies dying with her husband and four other coworkers locked in isolation. The hospital they are in does not have the controls to handle a virus like this. Even the UNMC in Omaha, which is now the go to destination for returning infected, is very concerned about this getting out.

I don't blame the nurses for deciding “I didn't sign up for this” and walking off. They have seen what happens to people who get this virus. They turn to blood gelatin.

And we are sending troops, most who have no training or experience in NBC warfare, to Liberia for what? To build a 35 bed hospital for the medical staff that catch this? What happens when (not if) some of those soldiers come down with Ebola? What happens when health care workers in the US catch.

We could have stopped this bug. Put up firebreaks and isolate the infection. But stark raving mad men like yourself who felt the need to.. honestly I am not sure what, decided to keep the borders open.

And for clarity, I am an engineer. I have worked and studied with people who work in the Level 4 rooms. They are not as lackadaisical about the ease of control as you are. They are very, very, worried that since this bug has become a political thing, the powers that be will refuse to do the one thing that can maybe stop this. Quarantine.

I also have extensive training in Hazmat. There are things I used to play with that would kill you a half dozen ways. Rule number one was this. In the event of a catastrophe, you contain. Even though that means people inside the event may die, you protect those outside, and outside the plant, first. You don't send first responders into the situation as a show of bravery, only to have more victims. Yet we seem determined to do just that.

So no, we don't run in fear. We admit that this is not something we can easily control and start trying to contain.

Now I know that in your rabid world that seems like cowardice. You would rather send wave after wave of health care workers and troops into a situation which they haven't trained for, and have no idea of how to respond. You, like many who have no idea of what this is, think that if enough PR and man power is thrown at it, it will all go away.

If you talk to the people who wear the suits and work this this thing. They say the opposite. They have little hope that some sort of magical thinking by our political betters can make a cure. There is no cure. There is no vaccine. If this goes pandemic (and it is following the statistics that it will), you and all of your fellow madmen will demand someone save them.

So sir, I suggest you honestly get some help. I suggest if you are so dang determined to have people go into this, you go yourself. Show your own bravery. Show us how it is done. By for God's sake stop trying to spread this virus by cheer leading your fellow mad men.

Thankfully most people are sane, and disagree with you.

Many nations are sending help to limit and then end this outbreak, rather than let it run wild.

I’ve done my volunteering, do you support military operations that you can no longer volunteer for or serve in?

Don’t you think that is about as lame an argument as it gets.

Thanks, since you are an ICU RN, you know that if the medical people all quit, then it will become catastrophic, and the medical people themselves would be swept up in a pandemic with no opposition and no one fighting it.

I never said let it run wild, I said contain.

That means you have to at times, block access into and out of an area. Shipping people into the zone, and then back out, is going to make more victims.

Attempting to seal off Africa and letting Ebola run free there is not going to happen, leaving it alone for months is what made this outbreak the worse one ever.

The world is sending in people to get it under control and put out the outbreak, before it engulfs the world.

If we would not have ever sent people in to control AIDS and never have sent in anybody to “control” Ebola, guess what? Problem solved on both counts. No person in, no person out. The ultimate result of the third world, who CAN not stand up and take care of their own problems. NOOOOO, spread it to everybody else.

Problem solved on both counts. No person in, no person out.

No, if anyone had tried something that ridiculous and inhumane then Ebola would engulf the continent of over a thousand million people, destroy it's economy, kill millions and unleash millions of refugees on the rest of the world.

We would be facing true horrors on massive scales.

Ebola outbreaks are nothing new in Africa and we always show up to help, this time the world and locals waited too long and let it become the biggest outbreak ever, and now it will take a bigger effort to end this outbreak.
