Do you think that any commander in his right mind would want to deploy into this environment without this capability.

The question of whether the whole effort makes sense is another issue. Exposing our troops to the dangers inherent in this mission for pure unadulterated political election day reasons is insane, IMO. But, if I’m going, I want someone other than a good 92Y to help me deal with the situation.

Don’t confuse the demands of METT-TC with the silly political nonsense that is going on.

The 101st is a Special Operations Division now? (No, they are not)

The 101st will supply 700 soldiers (about half from headquarters) to what will be 3 to 4 thousand, they are half of the first 1400, (the other 700 being mostly engineers).

“About 300 of the troops from the 101st Airborne will come from the division headquarters, and they will serve as the Joint Force Command for the mission.”

“A 101st Airborne press release issued Tuesday evening stated the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Headquarters, Fort Campbell, will deploy as the Joint Force Command for Operation United Assistance in Monrovia, Liberia.
“Operation United Assistance is a critical mission,” said Maj. Gen. Gary J. Volesky, commander of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). “We will coordinate all of the Department of Defense resources in Liberia to support USAID and the government of Liberia to contain the Ebola virus and ultimately save lives.”

If you would read our posts, it would save time.

I mentioned that there would be some CBRN people.

In post 25, you would not have had to post to me at all, if you had noticed the words “”masses of NBC troops””.

And Blacks prefer support to actual fighting?

We have a POTUS who wants more Blacks in command positions, due to the color of their skin. If Blacks themselves want to be up to the challenge, they should earn it.

For the troops being sent, highly skilled and high tech troops are what percent White/Black/Asian/Hispanic? I don’t know.

But I do have experience with competitive Asians and Whites, as well as Blacks who think being smart and proving it is acting White, while Hispanics may simply disappear into the Hispanic community while holding various jobs. It was a complete surprise when I learned of these things myself, for I had an idea that people all want to have good paying jobs and are willing to work for them. I was taken aback when what I learned proved stereotypes reflect facts on the ground.

Nobody understands what we are talking about, beginning with the media idiots who write this stuff. I’m not sure what your point is, but carry on, regardless.

What are you talking about, the 101st being Special Operations?

Why not learn that the people from the 101st that are going there are “”the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Headquarters, Fort Campbell, will deploy as the Joint Force Command for Operation United Assistance in Monrovia, Liberia.””?

Post 10 and post 25 were clear but you didn’t understand them, and are posting a lot of what looks like gibberish to people, and for no reason.

Yes blacks prefer support to combat arms.

With a signup name like combat boots, how do you not know this stuff?

Do you think that individuals are being pulled from units that are deploying, because they are black, do you think that units are being deployed because of racial makeup instead of what jobs they do in regards to the mission?

Maybe a beer summit will help me figure this out.

I have numerous family members that have spent their Army career in the 101st on special ops.

Do you think their activities are widely divulged?

If they are special Operations then they are Special Operations, but the 101st Airborne is not, they are an Air Assault Division.

I do know that. I thought I was supposed to be defensive toward your post to me and so thought a ? would take a slightly different tack in our conversation with each other.
