A definitive 20-year study into the effects of long-term cannabis use has demolished the argument that the drug is safe. Cannabis is highly addictive, causes mental health problems and opens the door to hard drugs, the study found.

I’m not gonna argue with you cause you just don’t see the illogic of your own argument.

Don't be afraid to debate... you might learn something.

It is our business

Young gullible kids who bought the lie that “hey, no more dangerous than alcohol” or “hey, alcohol’s legal, so why not dope?”

Fools, and I was one of them. The “look at me” and peer pressure contributes to our foolish choices. No thanks. Save for a few possible medicinal uses, it’s just a “recreational” use. We have enough issues without this.

I wish I had never seen the stuff. And I managed to keep at least some common sense to give up it even though it cost my childhood pals/peer group. Years later we reconnected and they said (mostly all) “you were right, it is bad stuff” People mature and realize their stupidity in youth. We owe it to others not to let them make the same mistake, which hurts all of us. Don’t kid yourselves in thinking this just harms the user, it hurts alot of us directly and indirectly.

I don't think we recover from gay marriage and all the other decadent stuff that goes with it.....UNLESS we get a generation that is very spiritual and goes back to the basics of love, marriage, children, family....

as far as the pot heads go...they will go on and on and on about how great it is and it doesn't hurt them, and blah..blah...blah...

look, people can't even smoke within 25 feet of many public places because of the danger of second hand smoke and the idiots decide to allow pot smoking?.....

That does not apply to this site.

I’ve posted evidence and the stoners came out in force.

Prolonged marijuana use causes severe brain damage, just like alcohol and heroin use.

The Australian government recently announced that they are gong to be doing research in the use of Dope for the relief of pain and for fighting cancer. As far as I know they are talking about dope oil or synthesized dope rather than smoking or edibles. As a pain sufferer I am very interested in the outcome of this.

I am also interested in topical creams or ointments made with dope to relieve pain and whether that works or not - does anyone have experience with these? I would prefer not to be taking oxicondone for the rest of my life and am always looking for other options.

Thanks

Mel

Yeah, weed is a gateway. Some people are always looking for a better high. I was one of those people when I was a kid. And then came the kids..... And grandkids.... Now days I get my highs on roller coasters.

I don’t see the insult. We did not end alcohol prohibition because it was safe and was just pointing that out. I doubt it will pass in Alaska but it will be close in any event.

“I’d rather the government not criminalize or control anything it’s none of their damn business. If your actions are not hurting others or denying others their rights then it is no business of government.”

I could go along with your sentiments if the users faced the consequences on their own or through volunteer actions of others.

Unfortunately in the society we live you and I end up footing the bill and the societal costs of people deciding to ruin their health and their lives.

The worst thing you can have is a society with freedom and no responsibility - which everyday we’re getting more of.

I remember Ron Paul’s farewell speech to congress where he stated something to the effect that the thing that disappointed him most about his stint in Washington that “freedom was such a tough sell”.

Well Ron got it wrong - what he was trying to sell was freedom WITH responsibility. It was the responsibility part that was the hard sell.

The RATS prove it time after time that freedom WITHOUT responsibility is an easy sell. Pot smoking is only the latest. Freedom to marry who or what you like, freedom to have kids out of wedlock and have the government pay for it, freedom to not work, freedom to vandalize stores, etc etc etc.

I first hear of it on a documentary about a month ago on one of the history channels. Here is a link to a neutral source: http://www.biologycorner.com/worksheets/articles/wood_alcohol.html

This madness in Colorado would end with search warrants

Please stay in Iowa. You will be safe there with only illegal weed. From a Coloradan.

Maybe you could go back and read all of my replys on this thread. I never mentioned prohibiting anything or prop 2 or Alaska. I'm merely pointing out that the arguments for medical use are false and this article which spurred this thread is much more truthful than the crap arguments you get from the pot supporters.

I actually know this stuff from personal experience and what I have personally witnessed. Your tangent has nothing to do with my argument.

Nothing on Earth is “harmless”, not even water or air. The evidence is quite clear. The WOD has done far more harm to the Republic than marijuana could ever do.

Damn! Free Republic is full of control freaks. Your extreme law and order type is not all that different from a Marxist. It is just their motivation that is different. That and the Marxist is a much better liar and usually only cares about power while the control freak wants power to “save others.”
