Colorado Governor Says Voters Were 'Reckless' to Legalize Marijuana

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper says his state's voters were "reckless" for voting to become the first state to legalize marijuana for recreational use. The Democrat's statement came during a debate Monday with his Republican opponent, Bob Beauprez, just four weeks before voters head to the polls for the state's hotly contested gubernatorial election.

In 2012, more than 55 percent of voters in Colorado supported Amendment 64, which legalized marijuana for recreational use. The amendment aimed to regulate marijuana in roughly the same way alcohol is regulated.

In ‘76 it was $100 per gram. I thought crack made it cheaper than ever?

Wow!

He was not preaching to the choir it would seem.

In my younger years, I was a pot smoker, and a significant one at that. for whatever reason, I like the drug, or did.

Despite my dad being a raging alcoholic, I am not. My body thankfully does not get along with alcohol.

But I have been addicted to other drugs in my life, the worst being benzodiazipines.

That was a very tough addiction to kick, but I did it with the help of Jesus Christ and no one else. I am proud of that accomplishment.

It took me a long time in my life to learn that sobriety is the ideal state.

Whatever demons I was running from were always still there whether I could perceive them or not through whatever haze I induced upon myself for the day.

What I have learned is that the only thing that getting high on any substance does is amplify already existing negative characteristics of any person.

Alteration of that sort is really no one’s friend.

It’s better to be as God made me, and not as I made me.

That being said, I do not believe that MJ users should be imprisoned. I do believe that MJ use is a problem that an individual should seek to resolve as quickly as possible, but I don’t see how prison would aid in that goal.

Now of course if someone gets high and crashes a car into someone else, then of course they should go to prison.

I also believe, however, that MJ was legalized so that people could get high.

While I do believe that in certain cases the drug does seem to have a medical benefit to some, for example those with certain neuro diseases, for the most part people want to do it because it makes them feel better for a short time.

Oh my. Apparently I’ve insulted a Republican. Or a libertarian.

Either way, IDGAF.

Continued deflection. Typical of you.

As I've said many times you're no conservative. IDGAF what you think of me either. :-)

Still illegal on the Federal level including distribution and sales.
I would not want to be on the receiving end of the Feds.

"next I expect to see states with legal pot see an increase of pot users apply for social security disability"

That's a plausible argument.

Time will tell.

A lot of folks are predicting the future on this.

Governor Chickenpooper’s buddy George Soros is the one that put millions behind the wacko weed legalization through his tides foundation.

Soros didn't create Tides; it's Drummond Pike's independent money laundering operation. Ted Turner was one of its first big donors.

Has Hickenlooper acknowledged he himself was reckless in signing new gun control into law?

No. The slavers and other crooks wanted so bad for CO to be the pot state. We’ll keep it in place, and we’ll see it to its proper consequences. Decent people should be moving assets to better states.

"But when the fallout happens..."

Agreed. Don't tell the criminal enemy anything about the consequences. Let 'em get high, abuse their slaves or whatever and be surprised.

"I saw this morning that homeless people were flooding Colorado to take advantage of the legal pot."

I was away from Denver for only a couple of years and was recently shocked to see how degraded and pitiful it is.

I guess I missed something. I don’t drink, either. Never saw the pleasure that others seem to gain. But, I never enjoyed vomiting...
