Really the only thing I don’t understand is why anyone still believes anything the CDC or media says.

Agree completely. Seems like a big PR machine at this point. Trying to calm everyone down while the guy’s vomit sits outside his apartment for a few days.

Nothing to worry about.

If this is the antiviral drug used to treat HIV, the doctor that had better results, noted that when given within 4 days of symptoms, it was effective, after that, not so much.

Day late, and a dollar short?

Also, while ZMapp has been reported as being all used up, a similar drug made by Japan has been used successfully in France to “cure” Ebola. It’s been reported that Japan has a stock pile of 20,000 doses. So why don’t we just buy some of that while we are waiting on more zippidy do mapp?

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

They’re poaching it so they can patent it and make bank on it. That what you are thinking?

Sounds familiar.

The japanese drug is similar to the lamivudine. And both are similar to the drug being used in Dallas. All are small molecules that probably come as white pills.

The ZMapp was an antibody serum. In vials. Very expensive and time consuming to make. That’s all gone.

The bigger question is why they aren’t using the 20K doses of the japanese drug. That’s very very similar to the one being used in Dallas and has been offered for FREE by the Japanese government.

Or, at the very least, using lamivudine, an anti-HIV drug that’s off patent, been taken by humans for years and probably inexpensive to boot.

Chimerix, Inc.

Chimera...according to Webster’s Dictionary
1. a grotesque monster
2. a thing of mixed character or fanciful origin

Ethan Hunt, while vacationing, is alerted by the IMF that someone has used his identity to assist Russian bio-chemical expert Dr. Vladimir Nekhorvich of Biocyte Pharmaceuticals to enter the United States, but purposely crashed the commercial airliner en route.

Nekhorvich, an old friend of Ethan, had forewarned the IMF of his arrival, planning to deliver a new virus called Chimera and its cure, Bellerophon, both of which he was forced to develop by Biocyte, into the IMF's hands.

Times ten.

I was just in the hospital for a little under three days with diverticulitis. No surgery, no special meds (two IV antibiotics - just Cipro and Flagyl, which aren’t very pricey), a few doses of potassium, a few painkiller shots — really just sat there on an IV drip waiting for the pain to go away.

Total bill to my insurance? $26,000.

So this guy is easy over a million now.

Whatever the stuff is, I hope it works.

FYI ... refrigerators in the 3rd world can run on kerosene. In the first world, the Amish have some that run on propane.
They might be few and far between but they are available.

It’s the transport between refrigerators that’s the biggest issue.

It’s a tricky thing to keep vaccines and other cold chain items cold enough there with no excursions above a certain temp.

If you're right, and it works, we'll have a real zombie.

So the taxpayers are spending millions to care for this lying pos and his illegal relatives while veterans that were wounded defending our freedom are literally dying trying to get seen at the VA.
