That should come as no surprise. Historically, it was the Democrats who tended to be more conservative ... and the Republican Party was known as the party of wealthy leftists. Just look at Reagan's track record as governor of California, Nelson Rockefeller's political career in New York and Washington, and the whole tone of the GOP under the "Rockefeller Republican" movement of the 1960s and 1970s.

This is just one reason why I have no party affiliation. I am a principled conservative, and I don't drink the Kool-Aid of any political party.
