Senate Hopefuls Try to Appeal to Key Constituency While Keeping President at Arms Length
In Louisiana, Sen. Mary Landrieu says President Barack Obama s energy policies are simply wrong. In North Carolina, Sen. Kay Hagan has criticized the administrations handling of veterans benefits. And in Georgia, Senate candidate Michelle Nunn wont say whether she would have voted for the Affordable Care Act.
These Democrats, like others running in races across the country, are trying to distance themselves from a president who is deeply unpopular among white voters. But if they have any hopes of winning, they also must try to lock down the voters most loyal to Mr. Obama : African-Americans.

Our social and economic ills have been created or exacerbated because of this clown and his sycophant pols and media.
I listen in when the blacks in the gym discuss politics. I conclude there is nothing a democrat could say or do that would cause them to vote Republican. The perception that Democrats have to be careful or they’ll lose the black vote is projection. The worst that will happen is the black voter will stay home.
Not in the heavily blue Dem controlled inner-cities....The turn out will be an “unexpected” 104% with 99.99% going to the Democrats......Just like the last election...
As long as the Obamas and the Dem media portray Republicans as the Klan, blacks will vote Dem. View the high casualty rate among their young as the price of their submission to Democrats.
Any black who espoused voting for a republican would be gang tackled by his black friends. He would be called an Uncle Tom, Oreo or worse racist terms. That is one reason why the blacks will always side with leftist black leaders, even when it is counter to their interests.
Sadly, there is a dearth of "smart Republicans."
Here in GA there’s an ad being run by an indy PAC tying the Dem Senate candidate, Michelle Nunn, to Obama. I’ve seen it several times, and I don’t watch much TV.
Thanks, for the post.
All the Dems have to do is keep the gravy train rolling to get the gibsmedat vote. Few black voters want to be free of Big Government.
The demodummy politicians are fighting to their lives right now and blaming odumbo is being hypocritical. They were the ones who have been giving all the “Free Sh%t” to the blacks forever to keep them on the plantation. I have no doubt the blacks will still vote (and frequently) for the demodummies anyway.
Most blacks probably think King Barack is doing a great job.

Nunn is going for the womens’ votes and doing a fine job of it, I must say. She keeps(or her PACs) harping on that awful Perdue man and how he treats women in a substandard fashion. I don’t understand why he won’t put the real facts out there. He has his wife out preaching to the choir(Republican women). She’s a Southern dem and has not made any appeal to blacks. I think she’s hoping to ride the coattails of Jimmy Carters grandson when it comes to blacks.
“The worst that will happen is the black voter will stay home.”
The party will have dead people and illegals vote for their candidates, multiple times.
The thing I’m most concerned about is Perdue does not seem to be putting the TV ads on. I hope he’s saving his ads for the last two weeks to do a blitz or something. I don’t really think Michelle Nunn has a chance but Perdue needs to be more proactive. You can’t just skate along in these senate races.
