It had been a relatively quiet policy debate until the full-page ad appeared in the local newspaper. “A male wants to shower beside your 14-year-old daughter,” it said. “Are you OK with that?”
The ad, placed by a socially conservative group in Minnesota, was meant to snap attention to a proposal to allow transgender students to play on teams based on their preferred gender rather than the sex assigned to them at birth.
It appears to have worked. More than 100 community members flooded a meeting this week near Minneapolis, and thousands more sent e-mails. In response, the quasi-public body governing high school sports in Minnesota decided to delay a vote on a new policy covering sports participation by transgender students. Members of the board of directors said they needed more time to study the issue.

I don’t think one should be “assigned” a species either. ‘Furries’ everywhere prefer to identify as animals such as cats and foxes! Who are the writers at the Washington Post to tell them otherwise?

Well, it’s already happening in some sports. Fencing has had a controversy going on for years because the International Olympic Committee has decreed that “transgenders” are allowed to compete as their “new” gender.
So yes, that means that there are FAKE women competing
against REAL women. And the real women don’t like it at all. Unfortunately for the real women, they’ve tied themselves up in such politically correct knots that they can’t effectively protest against this practice. They are afraid to say the truth, which may “offend” the (mentally unstable) “transgender”.
BTW, I’ve never heard of a fake man trying to compete against real men. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen, but I’ve never heard of it at the elite levels. (The fake man wouldn’t stand a chance against real men at that level.)
I imagine you could apply this to any number of sports; I just happen to know that this IS an issue in fencing.

Shouldn’t feminists be wildly opposed to this? Males who choose to call themselves females will have all the advantages males have in sports and will take away spots on teams from females. This should be a Title IX problem as well.

FWIW and the sake of accuracy, much of the transgender community is not necessarily arguing for a change of sex, because they are arguing it is a change of gender and a separate attribute from biological sex. So, arguments about whether or not biology is involved in transgender are going to be accurate only when they address the issue of whether or not gender and sex are indeed separate attributes.
From the point of view in biology, there are numerous natural examples of fauna which can and do change gender and/or sex with the ability to produce progeny. Consequently, arguments which are critical of transgenderism on the basis of biology must reconcile the natural examples of biological transgenderism to the transgenderism in Humans in order to be persuasive in the biological realm of discussion.

Unlike mammals the gender or sex of an individual fish is not always fixed from birth. Gender change is considered a form of hermaphrodism, as mentioned on the page on fish reproduction. The change is normally triggered by environmental cues, specifically as a response to the gender of other nearby members of their own species. Most species that undergo gender change live in small schools that are all of one gender except for a single dominant individual, but not all. Anenome fish live as monogamous pairs and in some Gobies the sex ratio is normally 1:1 also.

Actually trans-speciism might have its benefits. If you claim to be a dog, not only can you pee on the sidewalks, but you wouldn’t have to fill out a 1040.
simple solution, just change the name of the bathrooms from boys and girls to penis and vagina.
Call yourself whatever you wish, but if you have a penis instead of a vagina you have to use the penis bathroom!

Some advantages in some cases such as skeletal height, but not in all cases and not in some cases. MTF (male to female) transgendered individuals whose hormonal balance has been stabilized to that of a biological female exchange the stronger male form of cellular muscle tissue for the weaker female form of cellular muscle tissue. Much of the same is true for the distributions of fat as well as muscle, but not for the skeletal frame other than the tendency for developing osteoporosis. The same is true for the FTM transgendered individual, gaining stronger cellular muscle tissue while retaining the wider hips resulting from the female girdle widening during female puberty. Such hormonal changes in the MTF individual for a prolonged period of time results in generally similar musculature as a biological female of the same size, permanent impotence, hypogonadism with retreat of the gonads, and permanent chemical castration.
I don’t remember who said it (it was here on FreeRepub) - bathroom signs should be “boys or girls with dangly parts” & “girls or boys w/o dangly parts”.

First of all, there is no such thing as transgender. However, I love it when a beloved dogma of the left clashes with another of its dogmas. When a statement leads to absurd conclusions, you can be sure the statement is false.

Humans are not fish or frogs. Point to me spontaneous changes of men into women who can produce offspring, and I’ll pay attention to you.

Translation: this is a real hot potato and we’ve got to wait a while to see which certified victim group shouts the loudest.
