White House: No Ebola travel restrictions
The Hill ^ | 2 Oct 2014 | Elise Viebeck

The White House said Wednesday it will not impose travel restrictions or introduce new airport screenings to prevent additional cases of Ebola from entering the United States.

Spokesman Josh Earnest said that current anti-Ebola measures, which include screenings in West African airports and observation of passengers in the United States, will be sufficient to prevent the “wide spread” of the virus.

The chances of a U.S. epidemic are “incredibly low,” he said.

“The reason for that is that it is not possible to transmit Ebola through the air. … The only way that an individual can contract Ebola is by coming into contact with the bodily fluids of someone who is exhibiting symptoms.”

The comments were made after federal health officials confirmed that a man with Ebola traveled to the United States from Liberia on Sept. 20. He is now being treated in isolation in a Dallas hospital as public health workers trace his contacts.

Earnest said President Obama has “strong confidence” in the man’s medical care and the measures currently in place to prevent Ebola’s spread.

Here we go into the heartland of the winter?

Which is a good thing, as the virus cannot survive as long outside the host in colder weather.

Advil and antihistamines may mask symptoms and cause critical delays in recognizing severe illness...but it won’t hamper a person’s contagiousness which will escalate despite a temporary masking of symptoms. The toddler scenario is frightening to think about!

The chance of an epidemic is “incredibly low”. That’s not good enough!

The powers want an outbreak so bad before the election. And they’re going to make sure they get it.

What are the republicans saying?

Yes. This IS bioterrorism. He obviously doesn’t give a flip.

Look at the process and procedures that are supposed to be taken during bioterrorism events. Is he following ANY of them?

Measures that have been taken for hundreds of years in thousands of cases, but now, today, in the face of this most viciously fatal disease, we are suddenly too smart and too enlightened to inflict upon some poor deserving person

Measures that have been taken for hundreds of years in thousands of wars, but now, today, in the face of this most vicious terror army, we are suddenly too smart and too enlightened to inflict upon some poor deserving formation like ISIS.

Measures that have been taken for hundreds of years in thousands of cases to keep young women safe but now, today, we are suddenly too smart and too enlightened to inflict upon some poor deserving girl who just wants to have fun.

Notice the link between Ebola prevention, war on ISIS, and the college girl murders in Charlottesvile (and elsewhere)?

We have been deliberately indoctrinated NOT TO KNOW what everybody, prior to say, 1967, knew?

Tell that to the doctors who have been infected even with all the protective suits.

That hasn't happened. One doctor got infected by coming into contact with a contaminated protective suit - the best protective suits in the world won't protect you if there's no infrastructure in place to clean them properly after use -- that's a problem in Liberia and Sierra Leone, not so much in countries with even rudimentary public health systems.

Huh? This is not bioterrorism. There's zero evidence to indicate that it's anything other than an outbreak of a nasty but not-very-contagious disease.

Well, Thanks for those facts. When looking though should I lean a little more right, since I know am always looking at the left out info? But I’m safe.

It is NOT spontaneous generation of Ebola.

Their coughs and sneezes and GOK what else happen to land directly on you, or where you touch as you disembark.

To date several ebola-infected patients have boarded flights and there's zero evidence of any passengers contracting ebola while on the flight. Is it theoretically possible? Sure. But it's obviously not super likely or else it would have happened by now. The guy in Nigeria who collapsed at the airport after getting off a flight from Liberia DID infect people who came to help him - a janitor, and airport personnel and a nurse, but not one of the passengers. You have to get splattered with bodily fluids.

It is unlikely that Ebola would enter Latin America. First, there is not much commerce and trade between West Africa and Latin America. Second, the Latin American governments would immediately ban any travel to the affected countries in that region. Leftist or not, these governments are not self-destructive. Foe example, Mexico strictly enforces border controls on immigrants coming from the Central American countries.

This is such a red herring. There are VERY few flights from the US to West Africa. The guy in Dallas flew to Belgium and changed planes there. To block flights from anybody who had been in West Africa you'd have to shut down all international airports in the US.

Direct flights from Liberia to the United States: 0

Direct flights from Sierra Leone to the United States: 0.

Direct flights from Guinea to the United States: 0.

Notice it says “wide spread”. It doesn’t say just spread.
This means that they will allow some ebola through and they think that’s OK.

Maybe you can help me understand something. Why aren’t they this edgy over Islam? The majority of the MSM live, work and play in areas most likely to be attacked by terrorists. Doesn’t this frighten them enough to tell the truth? Or do they really think it’s the ROP?

This virus and the way it spreads can be contained in the US. That is not the case for a densely populated city in Mexico. It is a scenario that the border city hospitals fear…

Even Germany has placed a ban on aircraft coming from the Ebola Zone.
I suppose that now they will stop US planes, now that Ebola is here.
