Thompson: Associate of Dallas Ebola patient under close monitoring ( second case )
WFAA ^ | October 1, 2014 | Marjorie Owens

DALLAS — Due to close contact with a patient diagnosed with the Ebola virus, a second person is under the close monitoring of health officials as a possible second patient, said the director of Dallas County's health department Wednesday morning in an interview with WFAA.

Zachary Thompson, the director of Dallas County Health and Human Services, says all those who've been in close contact with the diagnosed patient are being monitored as a precaution. However, Thompson pointed to one person in particular as a potential second case.

"Let me be real frank to the Dallas County residents, the fact that we have one confirmed case, there may be another case that is a close associate with this particular patient,"

...

The patient left Liberia on September 19 and arrived in Dallas to visit relatives the following day, said CDC director Tom Frieden. On September 26, he sought treatment at the hospital after becoming ill but was sent home with a prescription for antibiotics. Two days later, he was admitted with more critical symptoms, after requiring an ambulance ride to the hospital.

"I have no doubt that we'll stop this in its tracks in the U.S.," Frieden said. "But I also have no doubt that — as long as the outbreak continues in Africa — we need to be on our guard."

Local health officials say the patient was in contact with several children before he was hospitalized. Thompson says each of those children have been kept home and are under precautionary monitoring.

...

The three paramedics who transported the patient are temporarily off duty and among those under observation.

Ummm, how about telling President Obama to stop all flights in and out of hot zones?

Patient identified . . .children may have been exposed:

Sister: US Ebola patient said he was from Liberia

DALLAS — The sister of the first Ebola patient diagnosed in the United States says he told relatives he notified officials the first time he went to the hospital that he was visiting from Liberia.

Mai Wureh says her brother, Thomas Eric Duncan, went to a Dallas emergency room on Friday and they sent him home with antibiotics. She says he said hospital officials asked for his Social Security number and he said that he didn’t have one because he was visiting from Liberia.

Duncan arrived in the U.S. on Sept. 20 to be with relatives in Dallas. He began to develop symptoms last Wednesday and sought care two days later. He was released and returned to the hospital and was admitted Sunday.

Dallas ISD superintendent Mike Miles also revealed that five children from four of the district's campuses were possibly exposed to the virus.

Two of the five schools identified by Miles -

Here is the thing. Supposedly in Liberia, he assisted a friend taking a seriously ill pregnant woman to a hospital. They refused her so they took her back home. She died that night.

Folks, he knew he was exposed. He got on a plane and came here.

Gee how could that happen? They weren’t kissing a dead body. They weren’t exchanging bodily fluids. Could it be that Ebola isn’t as hard to catch as many on FreeRepublic think it is?

Why would an expert doctor from the US kiss a dead body or exchange body fluids with a known ebola patient?

Even with precautions, infections are occurring.

That’s why the Ebola death rate is FAR higher than is being reported.

They are simply not confirming every case.

And if they did and reported it, there would be widespread panic and a HUGE outcry.

And the outcry, rightly so.

Where did you get this info? It lines up with some of what I’ve read, but is new info with the pregnant woman, at least for me.

I don’t see a lot of denial on here about how contagious it is -

not nearly as much as the lies we’re hearing out of those who are charged with protecting the country from just such a thing.

In 1918 the Spanish flu infected 500 million human beings across the world including populations in remote pacific islands and arctic countries. It killed 10 percent of its victims or roughly 50 million people which represented 3 percent of the worlds population.

Keep in mind that the Spanish flu epidemic occurred before air travel ..

This Ebola outbreak is killing 60 percent of its victims ..

The CDC has been playing word games. The direct contact with bodily fluids means sweat and saliva. So if you are within a few feet of an infected person who is coughing or sneezing, you will be exposed to this virus. They have also said that the Ebola virus can last for days on surfaces outside of the host. If they are telling us the truth, this is especially worrisome.
