Just heard on the radio (WBAP) that a family member of the man with Ebola is now sick with the stuff.

Should have read your post before I posted.

By the way, a few years ago my wife noticed some Middle Eastern types seeming to be touching the produce a little too much and not buying anything. She reported it to the store manager and he gave her a blank look.

That’s why they flew in a plane full of vectoring investigators yesterday.

There is a suspected case of something in Spain, in an alien detention facility.

No, incubation not 20 days, unless that is the tail end of it.

Sorry for double post.

“Symptoms may appear anywhere from 2 to 21 days after exposure to Ebola, but the average is 8 to 10 days.” http://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/symptoms/index.html

I think we have “Ebola tourism”.

Someone in Africa comes in contact with someone they know has Ebola, so before they have any symptoms they are hoping on a plane and coming here so if they develop symptoms it’s after they are here, and they get treatment here instead of Africa.

People that live in African countries are also choosing to “visit” families living here waiting on Ebola to burn itself out in Africa instead of staying in Africa waiting for it to burn itself out.

But then there is the examining room in the ER. A lot of contact there. And the bathroom on the plane and the airport and later at Walmart. A lot of potential contact - flight attendants, other passengers, immigration, TSA, hospital employees, ambulance drivers, on and on.

Yes, all risks. But in the family environment there is a much higher instance of both quality and quantity of contact. Not saying it can’t happen wherever a person has touched stuff, but it is more easily transmitted to people with whom you share a home. Much easier. In fact, it’s odd that only ONE person from the home has it. So far...

Here’s another little unreported and inconvenient fact from the Dallas outbreak: there are no direct flights from Monrovia to Texas, as far as I can tell. They connect through Miami (American), Atlanta (Delta) or Charlotte (US Air).

So Patient Zero may have exposed a number of people in a major U.S. airport. Funny, the CDC and the MSM didn’t mention that as they were trying to reassure everyone.

"Won’t be long before we see Britain hit with Ebola, too."

I'm very surprised Ebola showed up in the USA first. I would have thought Europe, being so close to Africa, would get it first. I hope you have stores on hand to "sit out" an outbreak if one happens.

this dude visited an ER on Sep 24 (ever been to an ER with “flu”? Wonder how long he waited to be seen? Hours.

Did he use a hospital toilet? Did he wash his hands? Touch anything in the bathroom or the waiting room? Touch a magazine? A seat? An armrest?

How did the airline passenger with Sawyer get sick? It was touching something a body fluid touched. Thus dude flew 2-3 airline flights - transferred in Brussels and again at Dulles. Touch anything on the airplane? Use the bathroom? Touch anything at the airports? Take a cab? Was obviously symptomatic within 2 days.

Patient Zero in Dallas on Sep 24 was discharged with antibiotics and showed up again 2 days later, was finally quarantined on Sep 28. Really? Where was he for 2-4 more days? Did he self quarantine? Go out in public? He had diarrhea and was vomiting. Did he touch anything that might have had his body fluid on it? Did the rest of his family? Like money?

The ER is a huge risk. Imagine checking this guy’s lymph nodes. Imagine taking his temperature, throwing the plastic cover in the trash - covered with his saliva. Thinking about it is making me sick.

In the ER, people wear gloves. People scrub. the trash is not touched by human hands. In the home, they shake hands, they hug, they kiss, they may share a glass of milk or use the same glass for a drink of water. And they do it more than once.
