Jessa Duggar Criticized for Linking the Holocaust With Abortion

The word “holocaust” is defined as the destruction or slaughter of people on a mass scale. Some pro-life people think its fair to say that the killing of over 57 million people through abortion fits the definition.

However, when Jessa Duggar from 19 Kids and Counting, linked the Jewish Holocaust with abortion on an Instragram Post, (see below right) some responded and said her statement was offensive.

Jessa wrote:

“I walked through the Holocaust Museum again today… very sobering. Millions of innocents denied the most basic and fundamental of all rights—their right to life. One human destroying the life of another deemed ‘less than human.’ Racism, stemming from the evolutionary idea that man came from something less than human; that some people groups are ‘more evolved’ and others ‘less evolved.’ A denying that our Creator—God—made us human from the beginning, all of ONE BLOOD and ONE RACE, descendants of Adam.

The belief that some human beings are ‘not fit to live. So they’re murdered. Slaughtered. Kids with Down syndrome or other disabilities. The sickly. The elderly. The sanctity of human life varies not in sickness or health, poverty or wealth, elderly or pre-born, little or lots of melanin [making you darker or lighter skinned], or any other factor.

May we never sit idly by and allow such an atrocity to happen again,” she wrote. “Not this generation. We must be a voice for those who cannot speak up for themselves. Because EVERY LIFE IS PRECIOUS. #ProLife.”

While over 24,000 people liked her post, a few of her followers opposed it. One follower wrote, “Do not use the Holocaust as an excuse to preach about your religion. Abortion has nothing to do with the slaughter of millions of people. You should be ashamed of yourself.”

Another added, “Please walk through the holocaust museum again because that is not at all what the holocaust was about. Have some respect for the children and grandchildren of survivors.”

In her post, Jessa Duggar is not downplaying the significance of the Jewish Holocaust; rather, she is saying that abortion is similar to it in that the unborn are marginalized because they are considered less than human. Also, she isn’t using her religion alone to make her point as one commenter wrote; instead she is arguing that unborn babies and the disabled have human rights just like the rest of us.

As LifeNews previously reported, this isn’t the first time a Duggar has spoken out against the abortion holocaust. In 2013, during the Family Research Council’s Values Voter Summit, Jim Bob Duggar said, “We have since 1973 (when Roe v. Wade was decided) had 55 million abortions, so what we have going on is a baby holocaust.”

I hear you. It’s a terrible historical event which we never wish to happen again. But it is happening. I don’t if I am the person to be able to make an argument on which is more evil. But I have to say a herd of frightened brainwashed people following a madman some how makes more sense. Then women killing their own babies and calling it women’s’ health care or reproductive rights.

Modern Israel is a secular political state. The Israel of the Bible is a separate identity, upheld by Orthodox Jews, who are often marginalized in modern Israeli politics, just as Christians are marginalized here, where Christians fled in the 1600s and dedicated this land to Christ.

Jessa is already married (re: jessaseewald hashtag)? I thought they were just engaged.

I read that she started using his name as her hashtag as soon as they got engaged. I guess she was indicating her intention of permanence -- so, take the name and don't have to change the hashtag and twitter stream after the wedding.

Maybe when you grow up with so many Duggars named "J"-something, you are like those twins who can't wait to dress differently when they hit school or college.

Ironically, most Jews are in favor of legal abortion. They are their own worst enemies.

It's worth clarifying that secular Jews who aren't Orthodox nor even particularly attached to the Jewish religion make up the larger portion of American Jews. It's not Judaism at the root of the problem with them; but secularism and intellectualism (some researchers have found Ashkenazi Jews to be among the most intelligent humans, as measured by secular standards such as disproportionate representation in scientific or high-intellect fields -- a controversially circular reasoning).

The smaller U.S. demographic of Orthodox Jews (those who follow Judaism religiously) are very family-oriented, marry very young, often in marriages arranged by family or rabbis, resist divorce and abortion, and even tend to vote conservative.

Anyone who tells the truth about abortion is called offensive. But the killing of millions of innocent unborn children is considered good.

We're in complete agreement. I was mocking the people who think homeschooling is necessarily inferior, when research has shown the outcomes are statistically superior.

Thank you Jessa for saying the truth. Keep saying it. Abortion is murder in the first degree of the highest order as it is the murder of the completely defenseless, those for whom we are responsible to protect.

Our Country needs to repent on it's knees and pray God forgives us. To do this we much acknowledge the deep degree of the sin we are guilty of. How terrible we have been is incomprehensible for us to come to terms with, but we must try. Only God knows the depth of evil we have fallen into. May God have mercy on us through Jesus Christ our LORD.

I’m glad I wasn’t raised in such a kooky, oddball family. Women are nothing more than subservient breeders who MUST have sex whenever her husband wants it. She cannot turn them down. It does not matter if she’s sick or completely exhausted from chasing after 10 kids. The women have no say in anything because the husband is in control of everything.

The girls father Jim Bob has full reign over them. They are adults! Adults don’t need mommy and daddy to watch them like a hawk and send them out with a chaperone. That’s not normal nor is it healthy.
