Tory MP Mark Reckless joins UKIP

Conservative MP Mark Reckless has announced that he is joining UKIP.

The Rochester and Strood MP told the UKIP conference, in Doncaster, that he has resigned as an MP, triggering a by-election in the constituency.

Delegates started to spontaneously chant "UKIP, UKIP" when Mr Reckless announced his decision to defect, which he said was not easy.

The move comes just weeks after Clacton MP Douglas Carswell defected from the Conservatives to join UKIP.

This is, I hope, predictive of how the republican party will eventually fall to the tea party.

One by one, conservatives will announce they no longer can suport the liberal drift of the GOP and they will announce they are leaving.

In all honesty, it requires someone as dynamic and dare I say it normal as Nigel Farage.

Policy and politics aside, just comparing Farage speaking in interviews to the establishment leaders is just so refreshing. It is what the people expect and that is why he is so popular and UKIP are growing.

I could not help but notice which side the government radio came down on, even in their headline.

I also noticed Mark Reckless resigned as an MP after making the party switch. Damn good move and if it is a law in England to do that, it would/could/should be a good thing to be emulated by a certain former colony.

I’ve often wondered if the UK had their equivalent of William F. Buckley, Thomas Sowell or William Rusher. Is there a formal structure that provides their intellectual base? Does the UK have an equivalent of National Review or Human Events?

We have a few knocking . There are a lot of conservative publications in the UK, The Spectator for example. Conservative Home is one of the more well known websites, it is a Conservative Party mouthpiece in essence, and it has a good summary of todays defection Here

I would think it would be much more difficult to have such men as public figures in a country where a man can be arrested for quoting Churchill in Hyde Park because it offends the muzzies.
