NEW YORK (AP) -- Health officials are investigating nine cases of muscle weakness or paralysis in Colorado children and whether the culprit might be a virus causing severe respiratory illness across the country.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday sent doctors an alert about the polio-like cases and said the germ - enterovirus 68 - was detected in four out of eight of the sick children who had a certain medical test. The status of the ninth case is unclear.
The virus can cause paralysis but other germs can, too. Health officials don't know whether the virus caused any of the children's arm and leg weaknesses or whether it's just a germ they coincidentally picked up.

The “media” has also been quick to provide exhaustive explanations as to the nature/sources of these viruses..as in..we’ve seen this before, nothing new,etc. They’re even providing details of previous years and dates of other outbreaks. They’re parroting all kinds of storylines. No way they did all that research themselves. Unvaccinated people/children wandering in...little to no information on what’s become of all those bases and other facilities, no medical summaries of what was found or on the status of those holding facilities. And now we have these different viruses with widespread impacts, even polio-like symptoms. Viruses mutate and I wonder if our childhood immunization program have kept up... sickens me beyond comprehension.

My kids are teenagers, but all still got the polio vaccine. It is oral drops. You may be thinking of smallpox, that is no longer vaccinated against.
Polio is a type of enterovirus. I do not know how similar EV68 is to polio, although similar viruses often (not always) cause similar disease.
There is no vaccine for EV68. If it becomes a real problem, expect a vaccine no sooner than 10 years from now.
And, since we're talking vaccines, thank the anti-vaccination nuts for making sure that their kids remain susceptible to all kinds of diseases, giving those viruses and bacteria every opportunity to mutate so as to be vaccine resistant.
