U.S. Is Carrying Out Vast Majority of Strikes on ISIS, Military Officials Say
New York Times ^ | Sept 23, 2014 | HELENE COOPER and MICHAEL R. GORDON

WASHINGTON — The vast majority of airstrikes launched against Sunni militant targets in Syria have been carried out by American war planes and ship-based Tomahawk cruise missiles, military officials said Tuesday, in what they described as the successful beginning of a long campaign to degrade and destroy the Islamic State.

In disclosing the identities of the five Sunni Arab nations that joined or supported the attacks in Syria — Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Jordan and Qatar — the Obama administration sought to paint a picture of an international coalition resolute in its determination to take on the Sunni militant group.

Jordan said that “a number of Royal Jordanian Air Force fighters destroyed” several targets but did not specify where; the Emirati Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the air force “launched its first strikes against ISIL targets” on Monday evening, using another acronym for the Islamic State. American officials said that Saudi Arabia and Bahrain also took active part in the strikes, and that Qatar played a “supporting” role.

But Lt. Gen. William C. Mayville Jr., the director of operations with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that the majority of strikes were carried out by American warplanes and cruise missiles, with the aim of hindering the ability of the Islamic State to cross the border into Iraq and attack Iraqi forces.

Something tells me this ‘campaign’ of Obama’s will not have the political effect he intends.

All this “historic” help from the Arab nations appears to be more smoke and mirrors.

What??? Then why was Obama falling all over himself thanking his “Arab partners” for all their help in launching our puny attacks? Optics, again.

A Fox News military analyst made a good point... these raids were carried out in the middle of the night when the buildings were most likely empty instead of say mid morning when they would be occupied by terrorists. Nice photos of buildings being blown up, but how many terrorists were actually killed? If we were serious about getting these terrorists how about a couple of B-52 raids carpet bombing everything in the area to rubble including the nearest mosque during prayer time?

“”All this “historic” help from the Arab nations appears to be more smoke and mirrors.””

And that creep in the WH believes we are stupid enough to believe they are all fully engaged in this effort. Watching the news last night was fun. Not one official from our country or any of the countries named would answer a direct question about the strikes. All answers were, “I can’t comment on that.” Of course, they can’t as they don’t have a clue what’s going on. Just cover for the WH.

I think it’s funny the way pictures of the attacks from our ships are being plastered all over - anything to try to make it look as forceful and meaningful as those that took place under either Bush!!!! Sorry bub, no shock and awe to your pitiful performance.

It is for show, no doubt. How many squadrons of bombers and fighters do you think our four “Middle Eastern Allies” have? Doubt their combined strength would equal one fully equipped and manned American fighter/bomber wing.

Predictably, we learn that those “Arabs bombing Arabs” airstrikes were merely for show.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they were all aimed at open patches of desert.

Intentionally.

I have never heard Col. Ralph Peters so angry when he said we are bombing empty buildings at night when what we need are acres of dead terrorists.

So it’s just for show...to try to save the senate for the muzzie/communists.

Now the idiot is pontificating to the UN.

You mean to tell me that UAE and Qatar are not leading the way with aircraft?

I find it hard to believe that the ‘elite’ Saudi AF would even allow ‘US’ to help eradicate the people that are a threat to the Peace (or is that Piece) loving nations of the MidEast.

Seriously, methinks the ONLYIEST (real) thing that the countries referred to will not ‘OFFICIALLY’ condemn us for our actions.

That doesn’t mean they won’t stir up the populace to rise up against us and all Americans in the region.

We should have gotten the hint when we went in to save Saudi Arabia bacon in the Kuwait incident.

They wanted US to put our sons and grandsons in harms way to protect them but wouldn’t allow our Chaplains to accompany them.
If they did ‘sneak’ in they weren’t allowed to wear their insignia.

That should have been enough to tell them to go screw themselves and pull out.

Do our Muslim ‘allies’ even dare to drop ordnance on ISIS for fear that it may retaliate? Especially Dubai must be sh*tting bricks thinking of all that wealth at home now being targeted by ISIS.

Are they capable of precision bombing?

We are now fighting cobras with rattlesnakes as partners.

The Muslim Brotherhood 5. We made the mess of ISIS and the rest of the world is making us clean it up. Putin rules the roost and no-one in the world has the balls to challenge him. On this issue the rest of the world is in the right. OPariah is outclassed in every way by Vlad.

This is a gross misallocation of valuable resources which can only mean that we may not have them if/when we really need them.

Our “Commander in Chief” is an imbecile, and we’re all paying the price for the dolts who elected him.
