Obamadale: The secret weapon that could save Iowa Democrats?
CNN ^ | 9/22/2014 | Peter Hamby

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) -- For a small band of supercharged Democratic organizers, the pleasant Des Moines neighborhood of Beaverdale goes by another name: Obamadale. The moniker was bestowed three years ago by a motley crew of Democrats who first met as strangers over martinis at a local restaurant in the early days of President Obama's re-election bid, brought together under the aegis of the "neighborhood team" model that defined the campaign's bottom-up volunteer structure.

I wonder if you have a house there and you sell (cause with neighbors like that you know you're going to want to sell ASAP), you have to disclose as a known defect to the buyer that you live in "Obamadale".

Bizarre hype. CNN has been punked. Beaverdale has no influence outside of Beaverdale. But be sure to stop on Lower Beaver Road and visit Beaver Liquors.

It is lily-white, like most places liberals want to live.

I would think that it should be obvious to the buyer and therefore not require disclosure. :)

Obama’s Popularity in Iowa Is Tanking
Obama’s waning popularity in Iowa could undermine Democrats in 2014.

A Gallup poll released Friday shows that in Iowa, where Obama began his meteoric presidential political rise in 2008, the president’s popularity is waning. His approval rating stands at its lowest point since the start of his presidency, with only 38 percent of Iowans behind him.

Everyone I know of in Beaverdale is a conservative Republican. Next they’ll tell me the South Side isn’t Italian or that Clive is just like Ferguson. They’re doing their bestest to go to Estes.

Every time I get a flyer from the Dems saying that Joni is too extreme for Iowa and in the pocket of the Koch Bros. I send her another $50.

The Dems are doing a better job of Republican fundraising since my twice daily appeals from the National Republican Party (some Senate based group) go directly to spam.

Long-time residents of Beaverdale are much older than folks in the rest of the city, so do tend to be more conservative, or at least liberal Republican.

More recently, it is also a hip destination location for 20/30-somethings. Windsor Heights in the city.

Liberals raise their real money and support in Waterbury. CNN has been punked.

I was the lead veteran’s representative at the Des Moines and Clive unemployment offices in the 80’s and 90’s but no longer live there.
