Weapons procurement showed striking reductions from last year’s plans. Then, the Navy planned to buy 980 Tactical Tomahawks, the primary cruise missile in use throughout the fleet. The new plan shows only 100 missiles in 2015 and none thereafter.

The reduction reflects shifting investment to a new next-generation land attack weapon, said Lt. Caroline Hutcheson, a Navy spokeswoman at the Pentagon, who also noted that the current inventory of Block IV Tactical Tomahawks exceeds combat requirements. A recertification line for existing missiles will be established to retain effectiveness of current TacToms, she added.

OK, to those of you who know ...

How rapidly can production of these complex and expensive (reportedly at least $1.5 million each) weapons can be ramped up?

Is part of Obama’s strategy to run down our inventory?

The problem with “smart” weapons is that they are sent to a geo location. Nothing more than an X,Y,Z with no regard for whether or not their intended audience is there. Eyes on is the only certainty in the game of warfare.

The money question. Also, why is our purchase rate so low such that we are apparently only buying enough to supply ~two nights of use like last night?

One Tomahawk = one round of golf considering security, AF1 etc. No wonder he cut back!

That’s liberalism. Act for the moment with other peoples money and without their consent.

I know the general way in which cruise missiles work, but can they be programmed to terminate on a ‘lit up’ target (once they've gotten into the general vicinity via their geo-tracking capabilities)?

All Obama needs is about 45 days worth of missiles. After the election, he will declare the war against ISIS to be won and will move on to other things. Enough of this silly line of thinking that our military capability is being degraded.

You misunderstand . . . I said we could have up to 100 missle thingies at a time. We shot off 47 of them, so we are immediately requesting them to be replaced. We’ve warmed up the zerox and should have the money to pay for them by sometime around 11:30 E.S.T.

No questions, I have an important tee time.

Using multimillion dollar weapons to take out pick up trucks is not very economical.

While I don’t like the prospect of such a low procurement number, having 4,000 of these missiles on hand is a pretty good buffer. I’d like to know just how many were expended on Saddam to see if this is a problem. I’d be more comfortable if we had a real government making these decisions however. They are a limited use weapon against an enemy like ISIS. Bring in the A-10’s and lets turn the sand red.

The Muslim in the White Mosque ordered “Mo butter for my Bastards” instead of guns.

Yes, far too many Obama voters are bastards. Allowing FedGov to subsidize industrial scale bastard farming produced exactly what the Democratic Party planned. Specifically, it produced a huge number of dependent urban voters, life long Parasitic Persons.

Time for a national vermifuge.
