I grew up between two towns in NJ with large Puerto Rican populations, but don't ever recall the name "Omar" as a first name.

Don't know about Puerto Ricans, but there is a 2nd baseman on the Royals name Omar Infante. He is Venezuelan.

Perhaps there are so many threats to this particular president and Gonzales’ case just got lost in the sauce? No matter.

This reminds me of ‘Atlas Shrugged’; a combination of apathy & little ability grinds productivity to a halt.

Yeh something’s wrong with the Secret Service. Low morale.
Mr. GG2 said the same thing. He said if you had to work for BHO and Mooch treating you like crap wouldn’t you drink and shirk?

Right now I would rather be surrounded by Gavin DeBecker and his boys than the SS.

I'm sure the federal Affirmative Action Program has nothing to do with it.

From Kesslers latest book :

A female Secret Service agent on the president’s detail is so out of shape that she literally cannot open the heavy doors to exit the president’s limousine. Instead of removing her from protecting the president and requiring her to pass the physical fitness tests that all agents are supposed to take every three months, Secret Service management told drivers to try to park the Beast so it would be easier for the vehicle door to swing open for her.

If the president were shot, she could not help carry him to safety, an agent notes. Agents know there is no point in complaining to a supervisor: The overweight female agent is a supervisor

Yeah, they are incompetent. Incompetency is running rampant through our society. From the lowest levels to the highest.

If the Secret Service were not such a dedicated and professional group, you might almost think they were hoping someone would relieve them of 0puttputt.

I do not believe that is the case. I do think they wish they were guarding someone else.

Here’s a scary thought:

People of a certain world-view are quite willing to die as a tactical or strategic step for advancement of a goal of destroying their enemies, putting themselves at intentional grave risk. This may be done even for the sole purpose of directing blame at another group. (Precise elucidation of this point eludes me; here’s hoping you get the point.)

Knowing, or at least believing, that certain sociopolitical opponents may be willing to go to certain lengths, it’s conceivable that these security lapses are deliberate. Like those waiting for the next Columbine just so they can further oppress a particular group and pass legislation unpalatable in more sober times, those directing a relaxing of security may be doing so in expectation that an attack may occur, even succeed.

“Reichstag Fire” comes to mind.

Do they _want_ a successful attack? or are they so pacifistic as to really take the risk in favor of ‘restraint’?
The question remains, again raised: ineptitude? or conspiratorial?

Although rare, committees can do essential work well, such as the US Air Force’s Accident Investigation Board system. That is the kind of committee that I have in mind for review of the Secret Service.

I wonder if it will take an ISIS beheading, live from the WH, to cause the SS to get their act together?

I lived quite a while in South America, while it was not as common as Juan or Jose, Omar was not uncommon. I knew maybe three or four personally and there were several others that I knew of in business or politics.
