Texas independence MUST happen - commentary
CNBC ^ | Septermber 22, 2014 | Daniel Miller

If ever an epitaph were to be written for failed governments, businesses and ideologies it would be this — "It'll never happen." There are few phrases that adequately capture the human capacity for denial like this one.

But there is one inescapable truth that is unfolding before the eyes of the world right now. "It" never happens — until "it" does.

With Scotland's independence referendum now over, the world has had a wake up call. In a country where 10 years ago, most Scots believed that a vote on independence would never happen in 2014 — it did.....

Will Oklahoma (with all it’s Northern neighbors to the Canadian border), Louisiana, South Mississippi & Alabama and the Florida panhandle be joining in?

Zero chance. To add, Texas will be as Blue as California by 2020, if not by 2016.

I do not know. There is a societal split in America. Texas is one side and the Blue states on the other.

I depart from all the blue states on every issue. So do the majority of Texans. They are being flooded with illegal aliens that the kenyan wants to legitimize as voters.

I am a Tenneseean. I think most of us would stand with Texas should they vote to bolt.

Or not. This country is doomed if no one blocks what the rats are doing and have already done.

I think in the off-chance this was to ever happen, I don’t believe it would happen in a vacuum. This would create a great deal of instability in the United States and surely cause other states to want to go with Texas, go their own way, or go with someone other group of states.

A very small number of people who can’t read think Texas can reestablish itself as a Republic.

It can’t.

The biggest danger to Texas is California ex-pats who will bring their liberalism disease with them (I am a California ex-pat but brought solid Conservatism with me).

I think if DFU leaves, he will be the last Conservative (and we expect you to turn out the lights on your way out).

FWIIW, I *really* miss the state of my birth and where I spent my first 1/2 century. But I could no longer put up with being vilified and punished for being productive.

Here in Texas they respect hard work.

I think I read about a little dust-up in the 1800’s that was along those lines...

Somewhere today I just read that 1 of 4 Americans would like to secede.

It is fair game to make the case for impeachment and to make the case for secession.

It is wise, for now, to carefully make the case for them without explicitly advocating either.

“I know this doesn’t stand a chance, but....”

Ten years ago, 99% of public opinion held that homosexual marriage was crazy.

Fifty years ago, 99% of public opinion held that homosexuality is perverted.

Things change.

I think that's more likely than independence, at this point.

Texas doesn’t yet have the “big welfare” mentality. But Texans seem to be largely welcoming to even illegal immigrants because, in Texas, there’s so much work to go around that there aren’t enough Americans (willing) to do it.

” California ex-pats who will bring their liberalism disease with them”

The key phrase here. We are being flooded with losers.

Secession isn’t a toy.

If there isn’t clear oppression talking place to justify it, and not just a dislike of an idiot president, then you have no chance.

Scotland, Quebec, and the CSA failed because of that. South Sudan, Ireland, and the U.S. succeeded because.

Let me just say, as a Blood native Texican, on both sides of my family, that no one I know has ever said Independence 'can never happen.'

There are always possibilities.

Personally, I still don't believe the Union's constitutionalists have yet played all our cards. Article V, and calving new states out from existing states, increasing the Membership of the U.S. House by Imperialism, if necessary, are all on the table as far as I am concerned. Madison's 'composite Republic' can be perpetuated, even in the face of majoritarianism and a stifling swamp of deliberate ignorance.

One day me and mine will inevitably be dealt a death card, and when that happens it will then be possible to say, insofar as we are concerned, some things "will never happen."

Even so, Come Lord Jesus!

I’ve really gotten to the point where I consider myself a Texan first, American second. Considering the rapid pace America itself is degrading into such a lawless, socialist sewer of corruption, with a vile and poisonous culture, and an electorate of doped-up, government-dependent dregs... I’m more open than ever to the idea of secession. It’s increasingly looking like the only option left. America doesn’t really seem to have a future.

Maybe in the wildly unlikely event we have a Palin/Cruz ticket in 2016 winning the presidency, I might have to alter my view. But I really don’t see anything taking us out of this current death-spiral.

My wife an in-laws are all native Californians that moved to Texas for the same reasons that motivated you to leave. They call themselves refugees. My in-laws are all from Marin county thought they eventually moved to L.A. They picked up their businesses and left. They miss their state too. I don’t blame them. It’s beautiful with tremendous resources. But it ‘lost’ and beyond the point-of-no-return. Texas is almost to that point. Demographics is destiny.

To your first point; Texas CAN split into a total of five states. Texas does NOT have the ‘right’ to secede. If secession were to happen, it would not happen smoothly and would be solved politically.

If it is to happen, it would have to happen very fast with it being driven by conservative movement. Soon, conservatives will be a minority here and any secession that happened further in the future would likely be very different reasons and driven by a different ideology than what American/Texas conservatives would support. Just my two cents.
