There are likely good candidates on the ballot “down ticket” that will need votes and then there are also the primaries to consider.

Good candidates need support so vote and participate as best you can.

They will when polls come out about 2-3 weeks before elections and
show this move to the left wasn’t as good of an idea as they thought.

Then they will be in panic mode and start a rightward turn promising
the moon to conservatives.

"Legalizing medical marijuana" does not fit easily into the left/right dichotomy.

There are some very right wing arguments that can be made to support it, such as the idea that the government has no place between a doctor and a patient. That is certainly not a lefty concept.
