Syrian Kurds warn of mounting crisis as ISIS advances, takes more villages

The latest ISIS advance in Syria has brought a swath of the country's north-central Kurdish region under siege, with Kurdish leaders warning of another humanitarian crisis without international intervention. The Syrian Kurdish town of Kobani (Ayn al-Arab in Arabic) is an island, surrounded by ISIS on three fronts and the Turkish border to the north. The town was already mostly blockaded by ISIS, but in the past three days some 60 nearby villages fell under ISIS control, according to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or "Islamic State," as the group calls itself, took 39 villages on Friday alone as Kurdish forces withdrew from their positions, the Observatory said. Clashes are constant around Kobani as Kurdish fighters attempt to hold off ISIS, which is armed with heavy artillery and tanks, Kurdish activist Mostafa Baly told CNN. "Mobilization of people in Kobani is not enough," said Redur Xelil, a spokesman for the Kurdish fighters. "The international community has to take action. If not, there will be a new (Sinjar) genocide, but this time in Kobani." Sinjar is the Iraqi city that came under ISIS attack last month, causing thousands to flee onto adjacent Mount Sinjar, where refugees became stranded and were starving before U.S. airstrikes helped pave a way for them to flee.

Don’t worry, Obama is gonna train 5,000 ‘vetted’, good Syrian rebels for six months, then they’ll go in and join up with other Muslim good guys and wipe ISIS out.

(Again we have to ask: Is Obama really that dumb and incompetent, or does he want America’s enemies to win?)

Cheer up dear Kurds—the moderate syrian rebels are on the way.
Yeh right-— no boots on the ground BaWreck needs just one boot up the split along with the other spineless, gutless wonders in DC.

It's a setup because we know there are NO “Moderates”. The weapons will go to the “Moderates” then ISIS and then both groups will make a deal with Assad for safe haven.
Obama will purposely lose Iraq and then blame Republicans as a 2016 political stunt.

"Obama is gonna train 5000"

We have been training them all along, and giving them equipment like radios.

In 2013 the CIA began giving them weapons and training them on those weapons. Anti-tank weapons like Tow missiles.

Now congress has authorized the military to take over and arm/train more of them faster. But it is not clear whether we will give them anti-aircraft weapons.

Isn’t it getting close to hunting season?

If Turkey is not willing to allow us to use our bases on their soil against ISIS, let them know that we are moving our bases to Kurdish soil. That should weaken their knees!

The plans Obama announced last week were a joke, and if they serve any purpose, it will only be to hoodwink some voters before the mid-term elections.

Whatever might or might no have been done previously, we still have the question of whether Obama is as incompetent and clueless as he appears, or whether he actually means this nation ill. Practically everything he has done in the Middle East has been a disaster.

I’ve been thinking....has Obama EVER said anything about protecting Christians and other minorities from radical Islam? Everything he’s done seems to work against safeguarding their freedoms.

Definitely not. He won't even use the phrase "radical Islam", let along the more accurate terms such as Islamic terrorists. But he does point out that ISIS has nothing to do with Islam, and that more Muslims are the victims of ISIS than any other group.

He' definitely an apologist for Islam and refuses to acknowledge that it is in any way related to all those terrorists who quote the Koran.

but Obama is not going to their rescue with attacks from our air forces over those villages because it would not be his Islamist friends in the Muslim Brotherhood dominated “Syrian opposition” forces that would be the beneficiaries - which is what Obama has said he will seek to do with any attacks in Syria - only attack ISIS where the “Free” Syrian army would be the beneficiary.

Moderate Islamists are the ones with enough money to fund the others.
