Remove the Stigma of Bad Black Behavior that Hurts our Race
Right Wing News ^ | September 19, 2014 | Derryck Green

Rather than waiting until specifics about the Michael Brown case are known — such as autopsy results, detailed officer reports, toxicology or other details regarding his death — some Ferguson residents, Brown supporters and various hangers-on decided to act.

Learning nothing from the Trayvon Martin case, people took to the street with demands for “justice” and homemade protest signs. They were aided by a media seemingly excited about exploiting the narrative that Brown’s death was at the hands of a brutal and possibly racist cop in a militarized police force that cares little about black residents.

Ensuing nights after the shooting brought out the worst in people — including looting and burning businesses, vandalizing property and the likes of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson seeking to “organize” the masses.

Regardless of one’s feelings about the Brown case, there’s a need for honest reflection about the behavior of people assembling in Ferguson, Missouri.

The self-destructive and self-defeating behavior on display in Ferguson was inexcusable. It’s a disservice to residents because it takes a sympathetic, accommodating view of the anti-social, regressive behaviors present during the riots, most of which were, unfortunately, committed by blacks.

Sympathizing with looting, vandalizing, personal violence and confrontation with law enforcement essentially excuses it, which emboldens perpetrators. Furthermore, this bad behavior is at the expense of law-abiding local residents whose lives were disrupted by this turmoil — the majority of whom are black.

Aside from being disgraceful, this dysfunction has severe economic consequences for the residents of Ferguson. While vandals reveled in self-created chaos, they made the case that opening businesses there may not be worth the risk.

All this stems from moral decay. There is a noticeable absence of moral values and ethical virtues in the nation as a whole these days, but it seems more concentrated in the inner cities, which are disproportionately populated by blacks. Churches have flunked their mission. The optics are devastating as the stigma associated with these incidents of violence and unrest are projected onto blacks as a whole, unfairly defining an entire race by the misdeeds of a relative few.

Whether the disruptive behaviors witnessed in Ferguson are from locals or self-seeking opportunists from other areas is really of no consequence. Regardless of race, class or residency, people shouldn’t hesitate to condemn bad behavior. But it seems too many whites won’t publicly condemn this condemnable behavior, even though they may earnestly desire to do so. Whites appear culturally conditioned these days to withhold honest commentary and astute observations on race, particularly about blacks. Common sense has been labeled “racist” by the racial grievance industry.

Compounding the problem is that the stigmas of these disgraceful activities and inverted morality behind them are projected onto blacks as a whole and are extremely difficult to overcome. To use a sports metaphor, blacks swallowed their whistle. We’ve forfeited our obligation of self-policing and society seems far too hesitant to publicly confront the conduct undermining the reputation of a race. This stunts our socio-economic progress.

A “soft bigotry of low expectations” is created when we refuse to denounce disruptive behaviors within our own community.

We too often excuse and remove the stigma of detrimental behavior, minimizing the shame that once accompanied dysfunctional, destructive activity. Counterproductive behavior is justified as the legacy of slavery and discrimination. We act as if we are a standard unto ourselves, separate and unaccountable from what society should expect — and actually demands — from other races.

Excusing inexcusable behavior has sullied our reputation and proved to many that we’ve spent our currency as a moral, cultural and political force. The bar is set so low that many aren’t shocked by what happened in Ferguson (or in Chicago, Detroit or other places).

And on the occasions bad behavior is called out, the predictable and reflexive reaction is that such critique is racist. Once again, the behaviors of a disproportionate few define blacks as a whole. The radicals perpetuate the very stereotypes that make them cringe.

Blacks aren’t done any favors when behaviors we’ve seen in Ferguson are excused by white enablers or black defenders. Racial solidarity and racial empathy unfortunately seem less important to these people than dealing with the tribulation of overcoming the stigma associated with undistinguished behavior.

Blacks have a moral obligation to reclaim values and dignity worthy of respect and admiration. It is likewise incumbent upon blacks, particularly the black middle class, to forthrightly and aggressively condemn attitudes and behaviors that thwart our progress and impugn our collective character.

This begins with condemnation of these stigma-creating behaviors.

“Churches have flunked their mission.”

they are more consumed with a certain avarice, selling a high emotion of professional victim hood, selling outside enemies, instead of personal responsibility and improving the flock to take charge if themselves, families and neighborhood.

All the while passing a wicker basket so they can enrich themselves wearing ghetto clothes and driving Cadillacs.

The writer is himself in training to be a pastor. I know a reasonable number of black pastors of the character appropriate to a pastor, so this does not surprise me.

When you buy into the media’s spotlighting of black pastors, don’t be surprised when black people buy into the media’s spotlighting of conservatives.

I try to judge a group of people by what I don’t see, as much as what I do see.

When I see big crimes committed by whites, I see whites all over the place being very vocal about the evil nature of it.

When I see big crimes committed by blacks, crickets!

When I see terrorist or other tragic practices carried out in the name of Islam and their profit, crickets.

If these group want my respect, then their membership and leaders are going to have to stand up and be counted.

When a guy like this Brown dude do what they do, I want to know the black community gets it. I want to know the black pastors get it. I know neither of those things right now. Nobody but nobody is standing up to be counted, urging peace. During the riots, crickets. Now, still agitation going on, crickets.

This guy seems to be one of the only people with a head on his shoulders.

Very very sad. Don’t blame me. It’s the deafening silence that has convinced me of the status of black affairs.

That and the NAACP, Al Sharpton, and Jessie Jackass.

I don’t know about the Churches, but certainly the Public Schools have failed in their mission.

It’s hard to make it in the world if you can’t read, write and do arithmetic.

Public employee unions must be gotten rid of, esp. the commie symp teachers unions.

Until that happens expect nothing to improve.

“Blacks have a moral obligation to reclaim values and dignity worthy of respect and admiration”

Unforunately, morals are not considered culturally acceptable by a huge number of blacks anymore.

People are judged by their actions, individually or as a whole. We just react and coment on what we see most often. If you want o remove the “stigma” remie the behavior that created the “stigma” in the first place.

It could end with deportations to the continent they claim to be from!

Act like a jungle savage, get sent there!

You don't want to behave like civilized people you don't belong with civilized people.

Deport their mamas with em! She failed to raise an upright citizen even though she was paid to do so!

What bothers me is black conservatives are failing to articulate to the real reason why the regime is promoting racial division. Or express concern how the fabrication of events is manipulated propaganda being used that is turning into destroying as the balance of society views it, into questioning whatever is left of black decency ? .

Those so called Martin/Brown Ferguson organized “protests” should be investigated. It’s clear it benefits the regime. What are the reasons for creating racial division by the regimes propaganda which has by its silence condoned looting, and created the climate resulting in racial attacks ending in murders of whites, hispanics and asians. ? And winds up portraying a black society that lacks a moral compass and has no basic values of right and wrong.

Derryck Green looks like one black conservative who get’s it
Thanks for the posting

Now just a cotton pickin’ minit here. Let’s be fair. The stigma of bad behavior by blacks is being removed. It’s no longer bad, and soon it won’t be only by blacks. Next Hispanics will have some riots, and loot and burn. Then white people will be doing it the next time they’re hacked off about tax increases, or dress codes at their private schools, or whatever it is that hacks off those people. Next the Boston Brahmins and Mayflower white people will get into it, and finally both houses of Congress (except they already do their own kind of looting). Blacks are trend setters. Where else do you think the honkies got jazz, and rock n roll, and gangsta rap, hip hop and reggae? Why else do white boys wear pants that are too big for them? It may even save lives. When white boys start packing heat and trying to hold it sideways when they shoot, they miss who they were aiming at, and only hit a few innocent bystanders. See how much good black bad behavior accomplishes?

Many black churches are small business ventures doling out government money, our money in the form of low interest mortgages at lower rates than banks, programs real or imagined that once again dole out tax payer money from the government to keep thier plantation alive. They are the arms of the black congressional caucus and other black groups. Firing up the masses brings attention to thier tired old cause that plainly many are sick of. They refuse to clean thier own house bottom line

There are real churches, and there are plantation churches. Plantation churches have accomplished their mission in Ferguson. Along with the plantation media, the plantation churches have preached their message of oppression and rebellion from the cruel white masters who are responsible for the bad behavior of the slaves. After all, it’s what the cruel white masters deserve, unhappy slaves creating more unhappiness in the name of justice and liberation.

Take care to rebuild the plantation, and give the slaves what they want, or they will be smashing down the doors of the mansion to take it all, until there is nothing left to take. And then they will be thoroughly screwed.

.

I think the author meant to say ...

Racial solidarity and racial empathy unfortunately seem MORE important to these people than dealing with the tribulation of overcoming the stigma associated with undistinguished behavior.

It is because the community doesn’t seem those actions as crimes.

The crime is fighting back. There was a case here recently where a young black man got killed trying to do a home invasion. The local blacks cried, and demanded that the homeowner be arrested because the young black man was “A good kid”. In private they saw it as work place violence. The thug was just doing his job.

Until that changes, and it might not change, we will see things like Fergason happen.
