There are things I do purposely. Like do a misspelling or like now, misuse words. The reason being when people don’t have a rational response to something I post they go for either grammar or spelling. I use MSWord to write my posts first, run them through grammar check and spelling. I also use Firefox’s spell check. It puts a red squiggly line under misspelled words - so I really don’t need correcting. But thanks anyway :)

True - but now with all the awareness if a kid does get noticed i.e bruises and welts and cuts and broken bones there’s lots of questions asked of the parents.

What you described is beatings.

Beatings rarely have anything to do with discipline but more to do with adult bullying.

They are the lovelies who throw babies against walls and burn infants and toddlers with cigarettes.

I despise them.

Exactly - frustration on the part of parents or sitters. You can do a search on child beatings and come up with all sorts of sad stories. And I’m with you - there’s special rooms in Hell for these people.

Amazing, like lawyers they mince words, they come up with a million ways to twist 1 simple sentence.

One sentence that is part of a message repeated throughout Scripture.

They are legalists, modern day Pharisees. Indeed, the Pharasaical tradition literally continues in them. They write THEIR OWN LAWS. They come up with new interpretations to replace the original true interpretations of Scripture.

Silly lawyers - it’s not so easy to confuse a person who has the benefit of the whole counsel of God, where commands are reinforced again and again in common themes that can only be wilfully ignored.

One only has to peruse the Bible for the letters chasten and one comes up with 24 verses:

Deuteronomy 8:5
Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee.

Deuteronomy 21:18
If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:

2 Samuel 7:14
I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

Job 5:17
Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

Hands are for loving, healing, comforting, and never for hitting or causing pain.

A rod is for dealing with rebellion, not mere disobedience.

The rod should be appropriately sized for the age and size of the child, and giving a child the rod should never be done while the parent is angry.

The rod is strictly for dealing with and defeating rebellion.

The rod should only be used on the child’s buttocks, and no lasting injury should result from its use.

Those were my rules as we raised our child.
