After Declaring War on Tea Party, Karl Rove Frets GOP Estab Candidates Not Getting Enough Donations

After declaring war on the Tea Party and often showing nothing but contempt for grassroots conservatives that powered Republicans to record gains in the 2010 midterm elections, Karl Rove whined that the GOP may not take back the Senate this year because of the lack of enthusiasm for his establishment-approved candidates.

Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Rove notes that even though Obama's "job approval numbers are lousy, no Democrat in a competitive Senate race polls regularly above 50%, GOP enthusiasm is high, and independents are trending Republican... each passing day provides evidence as to why a GOP Senate majority is still in doubt."

After declaring war on conservatives and the Tea Party last year, Rove now realizes that the very voters the establishment trashed are not donating to more moderate and establishment Senate candidates in states like North Carolina and Colorado. Rove says that "Republican candidates and groups must step up" to reduce the fundraising gap with Democrats. He said "Republicans must reach a certain sufficiency of advertising in the next six weeks" to "tip the needle in the GOP's direction."

Rove has clearly been compromised and is on the payroll of a Soros entity. Big, fat tool that he is....

“Gingrich said that ad with Pelosi was the biggest mistake he ever made.”

I did not know that that. Thanks.

I had to check that out for myself. In the story I read, he said it was the “that is probably the dumbest single thing I’ve done in years”, and backpedaled on his certainty about catastrophic anthropogenic global warming. The way he expressed it, it leaves open the possibility that his public snit over Clinton dissing him when he had to exit Air Force 1 from the rear as the dumbest thing he ever did. He really did sound like a whiny, spoiled child at the time (even though Clinton was a jerk to make him exit from the rear).

The Contract with America was exciting at the time, and welfare reform was a genuine accomplishment. But, with the subsequent GOPe control of the Executive, the House, and the Senate, it was undone, and GOPe couldn’t even bother to defund the National Endowment for the Arts. It had to build the Rove/DeLay “permanent Republican majority”. Toward that end, the GOPe collaborated with Democrats to undo welfare reform, to launch the largest expansion in entitlement programs since LBJ, to erect the apparatus of the surveillance state, to federalize education, to corrupt the banking industry, and all sorts of rottenness.

All of that doesn’t equate with Contract with America being a failure. It succeeded. It was the congress critters that came later that were failures.

What will a Senate Majority run by Mitch McConnell expect to accomplish other than giving the Obama and the Democrats cover for the country going into the tank in the next two years?

Unless McConnell and Cochran lose their seats in November, nothing is going to change in the Senate except that McConnell will make all the Republicans in the Senate look like the idiots that he is.

From a strategic standpoint with Obama poised not only to veto everything that is sent to his desk and to then blame the republicans for everything bad that happens until 2016, what exactly is the benefit of winning the Senate if we have “leaders” like McConnell and Boehner?

Exactly. I have no one in this fight, my Senators aren’t up for re-election (Murray and Cantwell). I do have a RINO on the ballot for the House who is running against Susan DelBene and I will vote for him.

Would I rather vote for a string conservative? Absolutely. BUt I live in King County and I have a very small chance of ever seeing a true conservative on my ballot.

I cannot imagine anyone wanitng to put Reid back in charge of the Senate.

So you are okay with voting and supporting people who actively work against you, vowed to destroy you, call you racist extremist tea bagger, a who actively aid Obama and the democrats every chance they get?
Explain to me how that is any different from an abused spouse continuing to remain in an abusive relationship?

RINO’s complaining that conservative donations are down,

are like:

“Palestinians” complaining that tourists aren’t coming to Hevron anymore to buy their trinkets!

No worries, we won’t just torch the RINOs, but every candidate who isn’t 100% perfect on every single issue...NO EXCEPTIONS!

The Democrats have absolutely nothing to worry about; we’ll destroy all of our candidates...RINOs or otherwise.

If the candidates don’t represent our values we don’t vote for them.

How much agreement with "our values" do you require from a candidate? 100%? 90%? 80%? What if the candidate agrees with you 99% but has a "deal killer" position on your pet issue? You want to let a left wing lunatic win instead?

Karl Rove is not that insightful. He's in complete denial about what he has done

I believe you are correct. Rove cost Bush the success of his presidency. Because of Rove's catastrophically stupid advice Bush will go down in history as a failed president and object of ridicule.

Beyond that, Rove has done severe harm to this country which may never be repaired. If this creep of a man had any integrity at all he would have long since hidden his face from the scorn of the public and would have seriously considered suicide.

“How much agreement with “our values” do you require from a candidate? 100%? 90%? 80%?”

I’m not that picky. Just the big 3 will do:

1) Reduce the size, scope and reach of the Fed. government
2) Maintain a budget surplus until the debt is eliminated -or default and restructure debt and repayments.
3) Restore freedoms, liberties and jurisdiction to the states and the people IAW the Constitution.

Ergo, responsible governance consistent with what we have historically had.

We must get control the senate after the November elections. There will be one if not two Supreme seats open up soon. Not that RINO’s will oppose anyone Barry selects but a dim senate will rubber stamp any fascist he chooses.
