David Rosenberg, Chief Economist & Strategist at Gluskin Sheff, surprised everyone when he adopted a more bullish view in 2013.

On Friday he released a research note that included a brief and pretty optimistic summary of the US economy.

Here's what it said:

United States

In the US, the economy is starting to fire on all cylinders for the first time this cycle.

The strong US dollar is a source of margin support for importers which is great news for many consumer cyclicals. Tack on stepped consumer credit growth, job and wage gains, gasoline price relief, and we have the makings of a solid backdrop to this consumer space heading into the most important shopping season of the year.

Capex growth is picking up and spending plans on the rise, and so Industrials and Tech should be price focal areas — earnings revision ratios are now rising the fastest in the Industrials space, followed by Health Care and then Financials.

It wasn't that long ago that this guy was predicting worldwide economic collapse.

You are eating pasta? The other white meat?

We were reduced to eating library paste for a while. But then, we were kids at the time.

Pasta?
Pasta?
You can afford pasta?
We were lucky if we could even dream of pasta.

One of the major drawbacks of heavy drug use is the inability to interface with reality on a daily basis....think not, look a His Arrogance, Slow Joe, Kerry-Heinz, Dempsey, etc.

Unemployment went up. Underemployment went up and the working population went down. They need to drug screen these people.

I knew the Yorkshiremen sketch before you were born, repeal. One of the greats of Monty Python - I saw it live at City Center around 1980.

That said, yeah, we ate pasta for nine months this past fall and winter and early spring because of the economy. No meat, no fish, no nothin’.

No. I ate it in a shoebox buried beneath the ground. I must say: I really don’t like you very much. Is that OK to say?

No it’s not. Inflation and wage depression is eating people alive. The prices for food and fuel are the key indicators of the well being of a country, and those commodity prices are going through the roof.

When the economy can produce real jobs, not part time temp jobs, without the Fed’s printing and bond buying, then I’ll believe it.

Dream of pasta? The rich kids were allowed to dream of pasta. We were happy to just dream of boiled water.
