The polls may suggest Republicans will see gains in this November’s elections, but former Democratic strategist Bob Beckel thinks they shouldn’t get too comfortable. The Five co-host mysteriously signaled Democrats have something up their sleeve.
“I’ll tell you: I would expect an October surprise,” Beckel said on Thursday. “I think I know what is — I’m not going to say it, but I think I know what it is — and it is going to shake things up, and it has to do with national security.”
Beckel’s secrecy comes as President Obama faces perhaps the most significant foreign-policy challenge of his presidency, the growing threat of the Islamic State.
Of course there will not be one October surprise. There will be one for every republican candidate.
Also they live in their own fantasy world where they generate numbers like unemployment stats and obummercare sign-ups just at the last minute to show they are the official heroes of the republic.
It just depends on how gullible the electorate is because the MSM will swarm and swoon over any action the chosen one takes.
The ULTIMATE surprise that would turn the entire election n their favor would be to come out definitively in favor of border security, repealing Obamacare, and reducing taxes.
Probably a staged “event” regarding something about ISIS, trying to make the current White House Occupant look competent - which is no small feat.
Maybe Bob is just taking a page from Glenn Beck's playbook: Make a wild (but vague) statement, and hint of more details to come. Then let everybody down by not following up.

So why can’t the Republicans have an “October Surprise” of their own? Surely there is enough fodder for endless surprises to be unveiled. Almost anything Obama might try and do would just energize the Republican base. Plus most people wouldn’t believe him if he promised to take bold action on anything, including the border or ground forces against ISIS.
The RATS could get hit with an October surprise if one of Bam’s generals/admirals publicly resigns over the ISIS war effort.
Unless it is used as an excuse to cancel the elections altogether.

An excuse to impose martial law? Staged, of course. In the long run that wouldn’t help the Dems. at all.
