The number of people who filed for unemployment assistance in the U.S. last week fell to the lowest level since mid-July, fuelling optimism over the strength of the labor market, official data showed on Thursday.

In a report, the U.S. Department of Labor said the number of individuals filing for initial jobless benefits in the week ending September 13 decreased by 36,000 to a seasonally adjusted 280,000 from the previous week’s revised total of 316,000.

Analysts had expected jobless claims to fall by 11,000 to 305,000 last week.

Continuing jobless claims in the week ended September 6 fell to 2.429 million from 2.492 million in the preceding week. Analysts had expected continuing claims to increase to 2.470 million.

The four-week moving average was 299,500, a decline of 4,750 from the previous week’s total of 299,500. The monthly average is seen as a more accurate gauge of labor trends because it reduces volatility in the week-to-week data.

Sad when 280,000 people have lost their jobs and that is good news.

How does that saying go? Oh, yeah. There are lies, damned lies, and then there are statistics.

And good news for the doctor with 50 patients. Last week 50 patients died but this week NONE died! Excellent progress and improvement! An award and celebration is in order!

Hooray!

What did the number of Americans who filed for food stamps "fall" to?

The fall of 36,000 this week will become the adjusted and “unexpected” rise of 36,000 next week.

Lies, liars, and lying democrats.

Yep, which means next week they’ll revise the number upwards again. They’ve revised the numbers every week in Zero’s term. (OK, maybe for 10 weeks they didn’t, but after 300 weeks or so in office 10 ain’t squat.)

This is interesting propaganda. Patently untrue, incomplete, laced with cooked books and utterly unreliable.

If X represents “working workers”

If X is decreasing as a percentage of Y which represents available workers

And if new jobless claims drop would it not follow that to file a claim you have to be eligible to do so? Well if the pool of X is constantly shrinking the pool of people who can claim unemployment also shrinks.

I don’t know. People are inherently stupid and ill-educated, or they don’t care that they are gargling government urine on a daily basis, or they are so apathetic that no matter what offenses of deceit and corruption are paraded before them, they don’t care. They really just must not care.

Veteran’s Day and Labor Day. They should be gearing up for the temp help for Thanksgiving/Christmas. Lay offs in late Jan after all the Christmas returns are mostly done.

I solved that issue last year, GIFT CARDS, I’m to old and I hate the unChristian malls. Did mine in 10 mins for 7 grands, and 5 great grands and hubby. That way they can deal with the mess. I ordered hubby’s off Amazon. Since all went on Discover that meant 1% cash back, and the cards were 4 times the points for gas at Kroger’s that got us a $1 off 2 fill ups up to 35 gals of gas. That was a win-win for me.

Just hope they repeat it this year. Right now gift cards from Kroger’s are 2 times the gas points, even a visit to the “little clinic” comes with gas points, and your script cost.

Although, with Obozo’s propaganda machine, it seems more like peyote.

And stats can be made to lie. Take crime stats, they are the most egregious lie told. Crime is not counted accurately. More of our governments fuzzy math tricks. It is Hierarchical Counted, only the most serious crime is counted if there were actually 4 crimes committed at the time. Kidnap, rape, rob then kill a person, only the murder counts. Rest flushed down the toilet.

Had the head of the TN Parole Board tell me he could control Recidivism rates by the type prisoner he released early.

How is this for gov’t stats?

Older study, but invaluable info. Probation and Parole: https://www.ncjrs.gov/txtfiles/ppvsp91.txt
Keep in mind the sampling was just 45%, they originally committed 25,900 crimes, when placed on early release under ‘community’ supervision for parole and probation they then committed another 74,400 new crimes. That folks adds up to 100,300 crimes, and many times more than in victims. As there are multiple people affected when a child is raped or a person murdered.
