On Tuesday, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) said that a comprehensive amnesty bill would have helped America contain the Ebola epidemic in Africa.
Durbin, a member of the Senate's Gang of Eight that wrote the immigration reform bill, said during a Senate hearing on Ebola that the Senate's amnesty bill would have even allowed doctors in the United States to travel to Africa to combat Ebola "without jeopardizing their immigration status."

He said the act required African doctors who were trained in Africa, and agreed to serve in Africa (in exchange for admittance? tuition?), to fulfil those responsibilities before they could be considered for immigrant-status. (Yeah, that’s right, for the umpteenth time, illegals aren’t “immigrants”.)
Why would we consider an applicant who planned to ‘bail’ on a solemn agreement made with his/her benefactor? This sounds like Demo-thinking on student loans generally: “Like medical care, education should be ‘free’!”
His other point was that the act allowed doctors here to not worry about their immigration status if they wanted to travel to Africa and battle the deadly Ebola virus.
Any Africans here presumably wish to impress their new American friends, if not the African ones they left behind, short one doctor. “Immigration status.” Something tells me this may be democratese for: “illegally here, but burrowed in tight as a tick”.
