U.S. says won't unleash 'shock and awe' air campaign in Syria (Obama refuses to defeat ISIS)

The United States is not preparing to unleash a "shock and awe" campaign of overwhelming airstrikes in Syria against Islamic State fighters and instead envisions a more modest, longer-term campaign, Pentagon officials told Congress on Tuesday.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said the military's current plan would be outlined to President Barack Obama on Wednesday by the U.S. military's Central Command and envisioned striking the group's safe havens to knock out infrastructure, logistics and command capabilities.

General Martin Dempsey, the top U.S. military officer, said the strikes would degrade the group's capabilities there as broader efforts get underway, including training of Syrian fighters in Saudi Arabia.

"This won't look like a 'shock and awe' campaign because that's simply not how (the Islamic State group) is organized. But it will be a persistent and sustainable campaign," Dempsey told the Senate Armed Services Committee.

What if all our soldiers decided to stay out of this fight? And instead just stayed on our own soil to protect us here?

I totally supported the Republican presidents, but this guy could not get a coalition together for a game of dodgeball.

Unless of course they got to play golf with him afterwards.

More of a ‘shuck and jive’ campaign. It may be the best they can do with the gutted military that Obama has ordained.

This whole radical Islam problem goes back to Carter getting rid of the Shaw of Iran. Brings in a radical Cleric and the cancer moved forward.

Later Clinton refuses to capture or kill a Bin Laden who already declared war on the USA. Had Laden several times, but his timidity and lack of will gave us 911 and the lack of Clinton response has caused us to fight a war on terror with thousands dead.

Not shock and awe, more like stupid and timid.

Obama made his views on how to deal with terrorism very clear in many forms of communication. He announced his intent to contain and manage them. He allows arms and monies to them. He appoints their ambassadors to whitehouse positions. He proclaims to be on the side of Islam if the winds of political ugliness are directed at them. He sends their best and brightest we captured from our prison camp to their palaces, in exchange for a deserter and fifteen million dollars in ransom(paid to a third party Qatar).

In a world of clear vision Obama would be in prison as a result of a few charges a third grader could make stick.

Exactly! He's putting on his best performance yet to try and appease the people sickened by the beheading of the US and British Citizens and his anti-Military low information voters.

Instead of “shock and awe,” it’ll be more along the lines of “yawn and meh.”

“...and he is not about to listen to wise counsel from his generals.”

The only Generals he has left are the ones he didn’t fire! They’ll kiss his arse and do as HE says, which is just the opposite of how America USED to wage war. And win!

With this @sshat, VICTORY is never an option, unless it’s VICTORY in destroying America.

Grrrrrr!

Most Commander In Chiefs demonstrate strength but he constantly announces weaknesses.
Tell the enemy that you are about to drop a nuke on their heads but then if all you drop is a MOAB then tell them you just wanted to see them run around like rodents a little more.
