A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper said he was asked to leave a Grapevine Waffle House last week because he was carrying a gun, but the restaurant said it was all just a big misunderstanding.

When Jeff Evans walked into the Waffle House Tuesday morning, he was not dressed in a full uniform but rather a field uniform consisting of a polo shirt and tan pants. Evans also had his duty weapon on his hip and his badge on his belt, but according to a report by a local CBS affiliate, the restaurant’s manager only saw the gun, not the badge, and asked Evans to leave.

No waffle house establishments in Reno to boycott that I know of. Anyone know what IHOP thinks? Didn't seem to stop the shooting incident a couple of years ago in Carson City. So, if the trooper wasn't "open carrying" would they have even known he was armed? Maybe they mistook him for "Jake" from state farm based on his attire.

If the Waffle House loses business over this, will they fire the manager?

The company apologized. This was the action of a single employee. Stuff happens.

Goose and gander issue.

Although I think this was an employee mistake, it was a mistake to make a distinction between rules for the police and the rules for you and me.

As far as I’m concerned, if I can’t carry at Waffle House, the police shouldn’t either.

Hmmm. Did they apologize because of the fact he was a trooper? Did they say anything about the common law abiding citizens and their presence at their establishments? From what I could discern, cops ok. Civilians, not so much. Flash a badge, you can stay. Have no badge, then go away.

Well, apparently, these Dallas suburbanites are not familiar with the term, ‘A LOT of sugar’.

Well, yes, but the Waffle House here has to be helped with their ignorance of the other issue - that the criminals are still able to carry

It’s a different article about the same incident. No problem posting yours. I was just pointing to where I saw the information you asked for.

this reminds me of the Jim Gaffigan joke, where he talks about how he has seen a gun five times in his life and three of them were at a waffle house....

In my area, the Waffle Houses have armed guards.

No one knows if I am carrying or not, because I CCW.

That being said, the list of companies with whom I refuse to do business gets longer and longer.

Partial list:

Target Stores
Chipotle
Starbucks
Panera Bread

I also use outdoor ATMs and postal services so I don’t have to go into Banks or Post Offices.

Waffle House did issue an apology, but I don’t go there anyway.

Like Real Estate School, the NRA Basic Practical spends the vast majority of time instructing about the LAW and what you, as a licensee, are NOT permitted to do. The remainder of the time is spent learning how to behave in the presence of a LEO, Gun Safety, Different kinds of ammo, Gun Safety, Where you can’t go armed, Gun Safety, How a gun works, Gun Safety, how to behave on the Range, Gun Safety, Cleaning your weapon, Gun Safety, a little range time, and Gun Safety.

That being said, I would rather have a roomful of responsible, trained, practiced, and conservative armed customers than even one idiot liberal in my place of business!

Just for information.

The search feature operates best with a single word or so rather than a long string of
words. Example is to search for waffle and it brings up the other thread. Not sure why.

Liberals really have their heads up their a$$e$. They have been programmed to hate the thought of a gun and to regard guns as bad.
At no time do liberals ever think that the only bad gun is a gun in the hands of a violent criminal.

This is a very useful list in Michigan and should be observed nationwide.
