Ukraine's parliament ratified an agreement to deepen economic and political ties with the European Union on Tuesday, and passed legislation to grant autonomy to the rebellious east as part of a peace deal.

The ratification vote draws a line under the issue that last year sparked Ukraine's crisis, which resulted in the ousting of the president, the annexation of Crimea by Russia and a war with the Russia-backed separatists that has killed more than 2,600 people.

Sounds great but I wouldn't trust the current Ukrainian regime as far as I could throw them.

The fact the autonomy votes were taken in a closed session tells you everything you need to know about the junta’s intentions.

I think the chocolate king is actually very weak. The Prime Minister appears to be the antagonist in all things. IIRC, he was a big shot in Crimea.

As far as the signing...who knows...lotsa facets to this and EU stipulations.

It'll be interesting to see how people weigh Scotland (if they choose independence) against Crimea.

Speaking of Crimea. This just in.

NATO says it ‘does not recognize the reported elections held on 14 September in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Ukraine’ - statement

I wonder if NATO will recognize Scotland’s vote. Or start bombing them.

They can say it up the kazoo. The fact is, they withdrew their "army" from Crimea. The people did vote and that's the way it is.

Note "Autonomous Republic of Crimea" title.
