A manhunt is under way on a Thai holiday island after two British backpackers were hacked to death.
Hannah Witheridge, 23, a university graduate from Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, and David Miller, 24, from Jersey, were attacked with a garden hoe after a late night party on Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand.
Miss Witheridge, who was travelling with three female friends, had been on the island for only three days. She met Mr Miller, who was travelling with two male companions, hours before they were murdered.
Their semi-naked bodies were found on the blood soaked sand at Sairee beach, close to the Ocean View resort where the two groups of friends had been staying. It is understood that they went to a party on the beach with about 50 other backpackers and tourists. They were last seen leaving a bar together early yesterday morning.

Local reports say their bodies were found at 6.20am by a group of Burmese workers who were cleaning the beach after the party. Local police chiefs said they were still trying to piece together the circumstances that led up to the murders. One theory is that it may have been sexually motivated.
Police on the island, which attracts thousands of backpackers each year and is famed for its world-class scuba diving, also said they were keen to speak to one of the British friends who had been travelling with Mr Miller.
The friend is thought to have left Koh Tao soon after the murders. Police Colonel Songsak was brought in from the neighbouring island of Koh Phangan to help local officers investigate the case.

Hmmmm.... Sex and a Hoe?
Oh my.
All cultures are the same you know.
We’ll keep repeating this until our world is in flames.
Do not go skipping naked around the beaches of Islam smoking dope.
A Brit, friend of Mr. Miller, is the suspect? Jealousy?
Smells One theory is that it may have been sexually motivated.
like BS to me
Guess they didn’t see the Leonard DiCaprio movie, “The Beach”. About bandits on a tourist island who robs and kills westerners.
So sad. Hope the Thai police do their thing.
95% of the population of Thailand is Buddhist...
And they have a good swag of Islamist.
Buddhists aint all sweetness and light.
So it’s the Thais’ fault that two farangs suffer “heart stoppage” on the beach? How does that work?
Dunno the area well.
I doubt this gang of rich kids went on vaca for murder.
Heart stoppage while hacked to death.
Guess the rest of the party brought hoes along..
>> So its the Thais fault that two farangs suffer heart stoppage on the beach?
Duh. Thailand is a cesspool. This is a well known fact.
Who do you blame, Flash?
anyone see the value of carrying a handgun???
If you knew anything about Thailand, you’d know it’s ALWAYS the farang’s fault, and whenever a farang dies there, it’s ALWAYS due to a “stopped heart”.
Found it.
From a book by a guy I used to know.
Whatd Gill die from? asked Calvino. Death certificate said heart stopped.
Hell, Hank, thats what the death certificate always reads for a dead farang in Thailand. Dont matter if its a bullet in the head, knife in the gut, drug overdose, it all comes out the same. The heart stopped.
They kinda gotta point, Patten. The heart does f*****g stop. So I guess you can say that was the cause of death, said Black Hank. I mean they aint lying.
Jerrys heart stop all by itself? asked Calvino. Or did it have a little help before taking that long rest?
Even on Ko Tao, I wouldn’t eliminate the possibility of an Islamist. However, meth is commonly abused there as well.
Well, I’m sure the Thai police would be glad to know that you have narrowed down the list of suspects to either a Buddhist or a Muslim.
