Likud Decides Without PM to Topple Hamas in Next Operation

Hundreds of Likud members took part in a meeting of the party's Central Committee in Ashkelon on Monday, where they passed a party proposal obligating the toppling the Hamas terrorist organization in Gaza in the next counter-terror operation.

"We must rehabilitate our deterrence, and in the next round destroy Hamas - there must be a clear decisive (blow)," said Likud Central Committee Chairman MK Danny Danon at the event.

The statement refers to the perceived lack of decisive military action in Operation Protective Edge, the third such operation in Gaza, which ended with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu sealing a ceasefire with Hamas that coincided with a nose-dive in his approval ratings.

Netanyahu himself was absent at the meeting Monday, instead taking part in a meeting of Likud activists in Petah Tikva that he arranged to conflict with the Central Committee meeting so as not to be present.

"Netanyahu needed to be here tonight - it would have been a demonstration of democracy for the unity of the Likud, the party and the movement," said Danon.

While you're at it, resolve to stop tearing down outposts, and boot Bibi for that (Outpost in Samaria Demolished; http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/304419). All he needs is to be comatose and he'll resemble Sharon even more closely.

I think Israel made a huge mistake. You can not negotiate with people whose whole intent for the last 1400 years is to exterminate you as a people group. How hard is it to comprehend that?

I have warned for years Bibi is more hat than cattle, and I love the guy, but he is after all a politician.

Ham@ss has said already that they are going to re stock their missiles, rebuild the tunnels and attack again in the near future.

Good that this obligation was passed but it would be better to remover BiBi. Obama and Kerry pressured him to release hundreds of convicted PA hitmen.

How much can Israel really do on its own? Has the West Bank been quieted? The current administration is not helping Israel. Shiites, this admin doesn’t even have the backs of our own boots.

So Bibi saved his nation’s butt in the way it went because he is alone. Who else supports Israel? Will Hamass be prepared to attack under this administration or will it take longer?

There are problems at the Syrian border which are more important now that the tunnels are down. Reagan did the same thing not going after Hezbollah after Beirut, he tore down the wall and exposed the actual impotence of Russia. Meanwhile, the invasive species of jihad spread.

Bibi is a million times better than this current administration.

IMHO, Israel is far from alone. We need a different kind of ally. The Jewish State is on the same boat with Armenia, Cyprus, South Sudan, Kurds, Alawites, Balluchi, Yazidi, and the innumerable denominations of Eastern Christians. These are our natural allies. The US is just another super power, and going to one mighty imperial power for protection from another has been done to death. We ingratiated ourselves with the ancient Persian court when it replaced the Babylonians in hegemony. We went to the Romans for protection from the post-Alexandrine Greeks. We went to the British for protection from the Ottomans. With the notable exception of the ancient Persians, each time, it inevitably backfired. At this particular juncture, we cannot go to the clueless US and its malevolent POTUS for protection from the resurgent Calliphate-ists. We must instead look to our fellow Eastern minorities for mutual protection. We could in time call this federation EMA (Eastern Minorities Alliance) once it has some muscles to flex. EMA’s time has come. The old paradigm is over. I think Israel’s diplomacy is evolving along these lines, whether or not we are aware of it.
