Cue the 2016 speculations: The former president and CEO of Ford Motors isn’t ruling out a presidential run. Speaking at a radio industry conference in Indianapolis Thursday, former Ford head Alan Mulally kept his options open when he was asked whether he’d consider running for president, ABC News reported.

CNN... He didn't run Ford, he restored / re-invented it, and not Fundamentally Transformed it. :-)..

I disagree.

The reason we want people to get into start small, is we don’t know how they’ll do in charge of a huge conglomerate.

(our government)

He’s done that. Bigtime. He had single-handedly governed (to the extent one can run with people surrounding you every day, supporting you loyally) a massive American company, and he has done that with remarkable distinction.

I think he’s a rare case. He’s ready.

Right now.

He is a republican. I worked at Boeing when he was head of BCA. Great guy. Honorable and not afraid to take on unions.

Maybe not ready for the presidency, who is, but certainly ready for a senior cabinet position.

I don’t see the comparison. If he ran Ford, he could close the Mercury brand, What states would he eliminate as President? What about running Ford qualifies him to be Commander in Chief?

I’m not trying to be argumentative but I simply don’t see how pleasing stockholders qualifies him to be president; he’s welcome to run but I’d much rather vote for a Governor

From all I know he has done a very good job at Ford.

But without a record of public service, how will we know how he will deal with other issues as well including abortion, marriage, Second Amendment, affirmative action, education, energy, taxes, spending, auditing the Fed, the FAIR tax, plus many other issues.

I’m just saying.

Look at (all) the candidates you know about, in both parties, then in other parties, throughout America.

Every single one of them.

I believe he’s ready. Right now.

Read this book...

If you don't see similarities on how Ford was as messed up as is all things Disney Land on the Potomac, then I owe you a big steak dinner. It is a good read, and if you do read it you will see Ford was in deep trouble. GM trouble was worse, but Mulally changed the culture, GM did not. Mulally changed things kind of like Reagan did, he went back to an American Culture, not Carters. Maybe we need someone who will change the culture to quietly undo "the Fundamental Tranformation"...

No! He’s a RINO.

I've been told 90% of the Republicans in Washington are.

I would like to know more about him before considering him. Even with Steve Forbes and Dr. Carson we at least know where they stand on most of the major issues.

Ok...

Let us play what if...

Mulally / Carson vs. Clinton / Warren....

How many would stay home like they did with Romney because he wasn't good enough etc.?

Btw, I see Clinton / Warren as a unity ticket and give Warren the gravitas she needs in 8 yrs.

If it isn’t clear, then I’m not interested. Sounds like a talented guy, but no thanks for sending a rookie in to run for the top prize. There is a difference between running for office and many other things.

Allan Keys sounds great and is a gifted speaker, but if he had taken care of business instead of running a horrible campaign, he might not have lost to a certain senator who then went on to become president.

Until I see conservative credentials and an ability to run a campaign... no thanks.

Anyone that hasn’t figured out by the time he has reached 68 years of age whether he is truly FOR or AGAINST the big-ticket items of our age will never get my vote.

I don’t doubt he fixed Ford but I won’t let my cardiologist, despite his great skills as a doctor, work on my Audi. I want a Governor like Scott Walker who knows the kinds of limits government should have that businesses like Ford should not have. A good Ford CEO has access to measures no president should ever have. The skill set a business CEO should have is fundamentally different from those skills a politician should have.

...but Mulally has also praised the government bailouts of the auto industry.

Another one for government cronyism? No thanks!

In your defense I can sort of agree. Years ago, I hear they asked Lee Iacocca to run for POTUS and after looking at it said no, it is too broke. Yes Mulally had greater authority and leeway as CEO to get-r-done than a POTUS has. The question then is could he live within the powers of the office and still get things done.
