Report: Rice set to appeal NFL's indefinite suspension Monday

When the Baltimore Ravens released Ray Rice earlier this week, the NFL followed suit with its own punishment and suspended the running back indefinitely. How long that suspension may last is unclear, but it sounds like Rice plans to fight it. Citing multiple media reports, NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk says Rice intends to file an appeal Monday that "will be handled by the NFLPA and by an outside lawyer retained by Rice." Initially, Rice received a two-game suspension in July, after an initial video showed him dragging his unconscious then-fiancee, Janay Palmer, out of a casino elevator in New Jersey in February. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was criticized for that punishment, with many believing it was too lenient for Rice.

No surprise here. I could see this one coming from a mile away.

It would be rare for a collective bargaining to allow an employer to suspend an employee "indefinitely" under any circumstances. A two-game suspension has already been imposed, and there are cases where a permanent suspension is permitted. But an "indefinite" suspension in sports is usually only imposed as a temporary measure until a formal investigation is completed.

Rice will win this case, but I'm not sure it means much. Who is going to sign him now?

I was told he now works for Sportscenter and was commenting on Rice. Unbelievable.

At first I agreed with you, but then we have to recall, Defensive backs also know intuitively how to handle the arms and adversarial throws from an opponent without punching them out to avoid the penalty.

More telling was the testimony of those responding to her condition, when Rice failed to remain with her, but immediately walked away, talking on his cell phone to others, saying he was going to get arrested that night.

His conscience spoke volumes.

I recall whoopie claiming the Vick debacle simply a “black cultural thing “ . So what are are whoopi’s culture words today ? Just asking .

whoopie agreed with rice and said that if a bitch hits or spits on a man, she should expect to get the same in return. I agree, equal opportunity for all.

They can oust him based on conduct.

The NFL isn't clueless, they don't want to respond in the moral way!

Instead, they are happy to put convicted felons on the football field as if it is noble.

It would seem beating women and children now fall under that category as well.

The ‘destruction’ is coming from the NFL’s lies.

Those participating in the attacks have no clue who the instigators are, and how they are all working towards the same destructive end of the NFL, knowingly, or not.

However the NFL handles this, just remember this one thing:

DON’T GET INTO AN ELEVATOR WITH RAY RICE!

Maryland “Freak State” PING!
