Why did Mideast Christians heckle pro-Israel Ted Cruz?
AmericanThinker.com ^ | Rabbi Aryeh Spero

Posted on 09/14/2014 9:15:36 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

This past Wednesday night, Senator Ted Cruz did a courageous thing. He walked out on an audience that suddenly showed itself to be anti-Israel and even anti-Jewish. The dinner audience was part of a conference called “In defense of Christianity,” made up of mostly Middle Eastern Christian groups persecuted by Islamic jihadists. When he remarked that in this war against Islamic terror we need to stand with Israel and the Jewish people, he was booed…repeatedly. Finally, Cruz said: “If you can’t stand with Israel and the Jewish people, I cannot stand with you. Good night and God bless,” and he walked off the stage. Senator Cruz, like so many, did not come to this meeting realizing the difference between Middle Eastern Christians and those here in America who have been Israel’s biggest supports and our closest friends as Jews.

What is behind the anti-Israel, anti-Jewish attitudes of many Christians from the Middle East? It is because many are Arab and there is great anti-Semitism in the Arab world. Second: They live in Moslem dominated societies and are bombarded daily with anti-Jewish, anti-Israel propaganda. They soon accept the propaganda and begin purveying it themselves. While their religion is Christian, they, as Arabs and Middle Easterners, are culturally, attitudinally, and in ways of habit similar to Moslems in outlook. Many have family members married to Moslems.

If I were in public office I would support them if they wanted to take out Iran's nuclear program but how they are tarting its citizens in the West Bank is wrong.

Christianity is no guarantee of rationality.

That’s why a nation, founded on Judeo-Christian principles, elects a muslim as its president.

They are Arabs first, Christians second. Blood is thicker than water.

My thinking exactly. By extension, proof that importing more of these types to the West under the guise of Christian compassion is a BAD idea. The reality is that as a group they NEVER fit in, no matter what creed. (Individual exceptions - as often paraded in talk shows - notwithstanding.)

The bottom line the Anti Christ is going to come from Israel plain and simple and think of The New Jerusalem as the Church and not the State of Israel.

If you were familiar with YHvH's WORD,
you would know that the antiChrist is an Assyrian.

Anti-Semitism is common among middle eastern Christians

They hate all Jews including Yah'shua.

They worship some other god.

The Judeo-Christian world view is not held by all factions of Judaism. American religious Jews, other than a small faction, would condemn this behavior partially because of their exposure to American Christian support of the State of Israel.

The Israeli government and a majority of Israelis condemn this behavior based on the fact that it is a secular State, partially because of the influence of the successful American religious Jews who have returned to Israel and have great influence there.

Throughout history, the Jews have had no better ally than the United States.

Linked is a letter from George Washington welcoming a group of Jews to America and promising them sanctuary from persecution.

Many have family members married to Moslems

Make that female family members; a Muslim female may not marry a non-Muslim.

Guess these Christians never read Deuteronomy 7:3 or Ezra 9:12. Israel failed to follow God’s instruction to wipe out the Canaanitish tribes; they are still paying for it to this day..,.and so are the rest of us.

King James Bible
Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son. Deut 7:3

King James Bible
Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever. Ezra 9:12

ts a sad fact of reality that Christianity does not equal pro-Western civilization worldwide. 99% Catholic nations in South America are extremely anti-Israeli as are most of the super liberal European churches and obviously the Christians in the Arab world. Even in this country liberal domination are slowly becoming explicitly anti-Israeli.

i have not seen stats on S. America, but i do think most Middle Eastern Christians are actually Catholic, and few have been born again, and are less likely to support Israel.

It is the Evangelical churches in this country that is keeping support for Israel going.

More than any other group in the West, but even some of the younger crowd here and those elsewhere are more to the left in this and some other things.

when it comes to public backing for that country in the U.S., evangelical Christians are even more supportive of Israel than American Jews by some measures.

U.S. support for Israel by religion http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2014/02/27/strong-support-for-israel-in-u-s-cuts-across-religious-lines/

.pewresearch.org Fact Tank - October 3, 2013..twice as many white evangelical Protestants as Jews say that Israel was given to the Jewish people by God (82% vs. 40%). Some of the discrepancy is attributable to Jews’ lower levels of belief in God overall; virtually all evangelicals say they believe in God, compared with 72% of Jews (23% say they do not believe in God and 5% say they don’t know or decline to answer the question). But even Jews who do believe in God are less likely than evangelicals to believe that God gave the land that is now Israel to the Jewish people (55% vs. 82%).

White evangelical Protestants also are more likely than Jews to favor stronger U.S. support of Israel. Among Jews, 54% say American support of the Jewish state is “about right,” while 31% say the U.S. is not supportive enough. By contrast, more white evangelical Protestants say the U.S. is not supportive enough of Israel (46%) than say support is about right (31%).

White evangelical Protestants are less optimistic than Jews about the prospects for a peaceful two-state solution to conflict in the region. When asked if there is a way for Israel and an independent Palestinian state to coexist peacefully, six-in-ten American Jews (61%) say yes, while one-third say no. Among white evangelical Protestants, 42% say Israel and an independent Palestinian state can coexist peacefully, while 50% say this is not possible. - http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2013/10/03/more-white-evangelicals-than-american-jews-say-god-gave-israel-to-the-jewish-people/

...findings of a survey by the Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life of 2,196 evangelical leaders from 166 countries and territories who were invited to attend the Third Lausanne Congress of World Evangelization, a 10-day gathering of ministers and lay leaders held in October 2010 in Cape Town, South Africa:

Hitler was an atheist.

More like a pagan, but by no means Christian. Unless you define terms as loosely as some RCs term Protestant.

Wrong. That is clearly a result and manifestation to departing from NT faith, and in contrast to it. Thus white evangelicals (race and welfare trump faith overall in the small black minority) voted more (80%) than any other group even for a non-Christian Mormon than Obama in the last election.

Years ago, while searching for a church, I visited a Presbyterian USA church. in the middle of the sermon, the pastor started ranting against Israel. It had no relevance to the rest of the sermon. Almost demonic.

Rare, but i think it can happen, mostly among devotees to Calvinistic preterism.
