Milton Wolf should bring his tea party followers into Pat Roberts’ camp
kansascity.com ^ | 9/13/14 | Steve Rose

If Milton Wolf endorsed Pat Roberts after Wolf’s defeat in the Kansas Republican primary for U.S. Senate, I missed it. And if he has, it is the best kept secret in Kansas.

I’ve checked everywhere on the web, and it isn’t there. I called Wolf to confirm, but I did not get a response. So, I think it is safe to assume the tea party challenger has decided, at least for now, not to endorse the victor.

This is too bad because Wolf — who amazingly carried 41 percent of the statewide vote against 48 percent for longtime incumbent Roberts — could really put a spark in the Roberts campaign. Roberts badly needs it, and that could have national ramifications.

Wolf, a radiologist from Leawood, carried Johnson County, only by a few hundred votes, but that was a major coup. Roberts needs Johnson County badly in his race against independent Greg Orman. Wolf’s failure to endorse would be declaring neutrality in a race where Wolf’s endorsement should be a no-brainer.

Roberts’s ultra-conservative voting record and Wolf’s positions on issues are almost identical. Orman is all over the map with his positions.

If Wolf supporters decided to sit out that race, in retribution for what some say was a nasty campaign, that could put Roberts in serious trouble.

So we should support the pork-barrelers and the cheaters and the liars and the feather bedders and the open border advocates and the folks that belittle and try to destroy our political philosophy?

I could easily support dems and get all that, and they’re better at it.

Roberts would almost be too conservative for Rose to comment on normally, as I remember.

What about you and others? Is Rose normally going to have a kind word for Roberts? I always see him as a very liberal Republican publisher.

“Roberts is no RINO, those who say that are either profoundly ignorant or willingly doing whatever they can to advance the Democrat agenda.”

Roberts may not be a RINO now, but he certainly has a shaky history of being one when he likes:

His voting record is an almost perfect match for his constituents in Kansas who are very Republican, but not very conservative.

Good! Burn the GOP-E to the ground!

Name one good thing that has come from letting Democrats win elections since 2006.

And, it's not like Roberts is not comparable to Susan Collins.

Ronald Reagan lost in 1976 but didn't adopt the strategy of letting Democrats win elections. He build on his successes. Wolf needs to do the same.

It is a question of degree. The conservative heaven you dream about is not ever going to be the practical reality, at least not in the foreseeable future.

You have in essence declared yourself to be irrelevant in the political process. So it is with the loser that so far has chosen not to endorse the primary winner.

Well, Well, Well, - We have recent examples of N.E. RINO Senators becoming Democrats.

PA - Arlen Snarlin Specter

There are others. So yes there are MANY RINOS who are closet Democrats

You are correct, Steve Rose represents the liberal wing of the Republican Party in Kansas, at least what is left of it. The Kansas City media and their associated literati are gushing all over Orman in the same way that they completely bought into the Obama Hope and Change nonsense.

Yes, in that you’re probably spot on!

The establishment gop is the main reason Dingy Harry is in poser today.

You want me to vote RINO so they can share committee chairs with the dems? So they can increase spending and deficits like they did last time they were in power? So they can haul loads of pork back home, lavishly feather their own nests, open the borders, grant amnesty and belittle conservatives like Ted Cruz?

No thanks! If I vote RINO, I am indistinguishable from the average dem voter who votes for any manner of crook or deviant because of the letter after his name. RINO’s have taken my vote for granted for too long. We complain about the lock-step black voter, yet you promote lock-step RINO voting.

Why should I vote for someone who opposes my political values, breaks faith with conservatives and belittles the grassroots folks they depend on for election.

NO SIR! You’ve denigrated my views enough, even in this thread it’s happening - and now you want me to vote for the same slop-buckets?

If politics is the art of the possible, then let’s BRING ON THE POSSIBLE! I believe it is possible to destroy the perverted, faithless, lying gop!!!

Gee, I wonder whose fault it is that I despise the gop so much today?

Greg Orman isn’t even from Kansas, he’s from Minnesota. He knows nothing about the state outside of Johnson County. Why should he represent Kansas in the Senate? Oh, and he’s a Democrat to boot.

Roberts at least voted with Cruz a couple of times. More than can be said of Cochran or Ditch Mitch.

So, you believe Pat Roberts will be elected as a Republican and then desert to become a Democrat and submit to the blows of Dingy Harry’s cat of nine tails?

The primaries have left us with Republican office seekers who do not offer the voters a reason to vote for them.

The 40% or so of the Republican primary voters who voted for new blood to represent them in the House and Senate came up short. WE do not see a reason to vote for the Socialists on the Ballot this fall under the “republican” option. This option is already filled under “democrat”

We will be looking for better options at EVERY election, Primaries and Fall elections.

There will be no amount of wining by you “billhilly” or you cohorts that will change our mind this election cycle. We have lived through FIVE presidential cycles where this crapp has swayed us to vote for loosers like Dole, McCain etc.

It will be your turn “billhilly” to tell us why RINO socialists are people who we should vote FOR. We will no longer acknowledge negative reasons to vote for a RINO because he is not a Democrat.

Show us which RINOs will eliminate various departments of the Fed. G’ment - Dept. of Education, EPA, The Nazis at the airports, etc. If you like this level of Fed. G’ment why re you a Republican? Or is this just a rhetorical question?

RINOs are Socialists in full agreement with the Democrats - If the Republican Dictator is as good as another Dictator than there is reason enough to vote for the BEST Dictator - Vote Democrat

I’ve given you enough rope to hang yourself - and you have complied.

You don’t have the foggiest notion of what I want. But that doesn’t slow down your condescending “conservative heaven” remark...wow - that sure has the potential to convince me to vote RINO!!!

All I want is a party that cuts spending, has integrity (that means not hauling pork to buy votes, not passing laws to enhance their net worth, not pandering for dem votes with racist lies, not talking “less” while spending more...shall I go on?) and honestly represents my political views most of the time. One that doesn’t attack me one day, then expect my vote the next by using the Dingy Harry boogeyman.

Tell me why I should vote RINO? And “better than Harry” won’t cut it. If the RINOs want my vote they will ditch Thad Cochran, shun Lisa Murkowski, celebrate Ted Cruz and laugh at Lindsey Graham. When they support and promote the liars, cheaters and thieves among them and publicly denigrate the honest patriots - they’ve lost me, and they anger me even more when they assume I have no option but to swallow their poison.

At least the dems have the grace to recognize they have burned the bridges, and the sense to not tell me the trestle is still there to cross on..

After 60 plus years I moved to AZ a couple of years ago, but I have been aware of Rose and his dad for fifty years and saw this as push journalism but its good to check with others.

I live in Texas, My senator is John Wayne McCornin, The Texas RINO, who is NOT just like one of us.

And yes, John Wayne McCornin has voted with Dingy Harry to close of debate on many issues in recent history on the senate floor

As another Texas Democrat once said - John Wayne McCornin is no Ted Cruz
