Who’s Behind the Push to Give Illegal Aliens Driver’s Licenses…in Texas?
Pajamas Media ^ | 09/13/2014 | BRYAN PRESTON

Earlier this week, the left-leaning Austin American-Statesman editorialized that it’s time that Texas establish driver’s licences for illegal aliens.

In the editorial, the paper calls for Texas to join the 11 states plus the District of Columbia in granting driver’s licenses to those who are in the state illegally. This issue cost California Gov. Gray Davis his job a few years back, in that Democratic state. It’s fair to say that it would be a very controversial move in Texas as the Republican-controlled legislature gets set for its 2015 session, and presumed Gov. Greg Abbott (R) presides over his first session. Presumed Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) would also be presiding over his first session, in the Texas Senate.

The Statesman avoids the politics and pitches a case for road safety.

While not everyone who drives without insurance is living in the U.S. illegally, allowing undocumented immigrants the option to drive legally would make Texas roads that much safer.

A bipartisan bill recognized that in 2013. HD 3206 would have allowed undocumented immigrants to drive legally in Texas and addressed concerns about voting, security and other rights reserved for legal residents.

Under that measure, undocumented immigrants living in Texas would have been issued a special “Texas resident driver’s permit” that looked different from a regular driver’s license. The permits wouldn’t have been used for any federal purposes, such as going through airport security. It would have allowed undocumented drivers, who are already on Texas roads, to drive legally and get quality auto insurance, a huge problem when you consider that currently more than 2.5 million, or 14.3 percent, of vehicles in Texas lack coverage. In Travis County, 120,125 vehicles (more than 13 percent) are not insured.

It sounds as though the commie libs in Austin are “down for the struggle” to get more Texas motorists killed.

Wouldn’t it be something if say 50,000 citizens got together, walked to the office of a politician doing crap like this and made a citizens arrest for treason?

These invaders and parasites will flock to states that accommodate them this way. Why make life easier for them? It used to be I would visit Mexico

Now it seems Mexico is visiting me.....permanently

Licensing illegals is not a bad thing f it is done right, which it never is.

Licenses for illegal aliens should either be stamped, ALIEN. Or just a different color. The licenses should be documented with a full set of fingerprints and accompanied by a prepaid insurance policy. The license would expire at the same time as the prepaid insurance policy and could only be renewed in person at the DMV.

And .. the other reason for the attacks upon TX is because it just HAPPENS TO BE THE MOST PROSPEROUS.

Now .. we just can’t have that ..!!!!! A few illegals running around causing mayhem is just what the doctor ordered.

There is no argument for doing this from a “safety” standpoint.

The drivers license is a breeder document, used to generate other admission documents within the United States: it establishes residency and ultimately de facto privileges of citizenship.

Which is precisely why La Racistas and the Democratic party push it.

Someone in the country illegally has no entitlement to any state issued licensure at all.

If an illegal appears at the DMV, they need to be arrested-the word “illegal” says it all-as in they have already broken the law. Arrest them, put them in the green van and have la migra take them back across the border-problem solved, no auto insurance or license needed...

It’s all part of the “turn Texas Blue” campaign. the long goal is that if they get TX, with it’s electoral votes, it’s over in the Presidential Elections for ever.

Done right - an illegal gets a driver's license with the restriction that it is good for a one-way trip to the appropriate border.

A driver's license granted to an illegal immigrant should come attached to a deportation order.

The “road to citizenship” lies south going over the Rio Grande.

Yup, that is what keeping the borders porous is all about. So many damn traitors out there to our Constitution. I hope, and I realize it may be a longshot, but we need to start holding these traitors accountable if we can take over the Senate and keep the House.

I will bet my state Rep, Patricia Harless, is a supporter too. She does nothing. The roads are horrible here(the other day 1960 and surrounding streets were completely flooded. Traffic lights don’t work at the hint of rain. transformers are so outdated; even the electric company says they are; but can’t quite tell you when they are coming out to fix them. Garbage was not picked up for 2 weeks about a 3 weeks ago. Getting sick of this loser.

That’s what needs to happen, but those citizens are busy working so that money can be taken out of their paychecks to pay for illegals. Nobody’s going to pay a bunch of anti-illegal immigration patriots to be bussed somewhere to protest or make citizens arrests, like the pro-illegals are paid and bused.
