Networks Hype 'Palin Family Brawl': 'Like An Episode of Jerry Springer'
newsbusters ^ | september 12, 2014 | Kyle Drennen

On Friday, all three network morning shows seized on reports that Sarah Palin and her family were "caught in a massive brawl" during a house party in Anchorage, Alaska. ABC's Good Morning America opened with substitute co-host Lara Spencer declaring: "One witness saying it was like an episode of Jerry Springer, her kids throwing punches. What sparked this rumble in the tundra?" The song Eye of the Tiger was heard playing in the background.

In the full report that followed on GMA, correspondent Paula Faris pushed the tabloid story: "According to the Washington Post, Palin, along with her husband Todd and kids Bristol, Willow, and Track, arriving in a stretch Hummer. The Post also reporting that as the beer started flowing, that's when the fighting started." Supposed eyewitness Eric Thompson proclaimed: "I heard Sarah Palin scream out, 'You know who we are, don't you?' It was like we were just on a Jerry Springer episode."

After the report from Faris, news anchor Amy Robach urged other party guests to send in video of what happened: "Someone's cell phone had to be rolling. Come on, people." Co-host George Stephanopoulos chimed in: "If it was, we will find it."

Will Stephanopoulos bring that same tenacity to investigating his old bosses the Clintons during the 2016 presidential campaign?

At least ABC included someone who claimed to have actually been at the party, on NBC's Today, news anchor Natalie Morales was simply repeating internet rumors:

Love it! The media is so obsessed by anything the Sarah does, that she stays in the limelight.

The major news networks have been effectively made into the TV version of the National Enquirer.

Gee for someone the media constantly calls “Irrelevant” They sure do make a big fuss about every single thing she does and says..meanwhile, no ally wants any part of Obama’s ISIS plan, gee, will the Obama kiss ass media report on that? Oh and by the way, this whole “Brawl” I doubt ever happened..was there screaming, probably, but punching each other, highly doubt it..Sarah was on Hannity last night, she was happy as a clam. The media will continue doing everything in their power to bring her down but they will always fail

Yeah, we really need to change the subject from the pResident.
Circulate a memo, hit Palin hard. Use some artistic license, like running ‘Eye of the Tiger’ as theme music. Next—Cruz was “cynical and despicable.” Use those words and don’t forget the TPS cover sheets!

Palin and Cruz scare the crispy crap out of these scribe dinks.

The networks went “Jerry Springer” themselves a long time ago & should not talk.

The MSM's idea of disinterested, objective journalism. "C'mon, let's GET her!!! Ha ha ha !!!"

Much ado about nothing. Even if it did happen, it’s not worthy of so much attention.

If the Clintons did it you’d be condemning them to hell .

Not many will disagree with you.

However, if it were the Clintons or Kennedys it would be filtered, making them look like fun loving people and it would be reported a couple of weeks after the event and after ‘they’ were backed into a corner.

Number one, don’t assume that you know how I’d react to hypothetical situations. That’s just plain arrogance. Number two, you’re under the impression that I like the Palins, or else dislike them intensely. I don’t care for them one way or another. I just think that we have more important things to focus on than stupid, petty, nonsense like this. Number three, even if it were the Clintons, (which I think they are too obsessed with their own consequence to do something like this) they wouldn’t deserve entire segments about a supposed brawl. This is why we’re screwed up as a country. Instead of talking about Benghazi, something actually having to do with a Clinton, or immigration, or voter fraud, or Common Core, or ISIS, or the other problems plaguing this country, the media decides to focus on increasing racial tensions with that punk Michael Brown, or something stupid the Palins may or may not have done. Christians are dying in the ME. We have diseases and terrorists crossing our borders. The world has gone insane, and the media has to hold a festival over dumb things like this. How much can you actually talk about it, anyways? If they mentioned it in passing, I could understand, but holding multiple entire hour-long programs to discuss something that probably lasted 5 minutes at the most? Seriously?

It’s interesting that a woman of such ... waning consequence ... as the media would have it ... warrants 3 morning talk shows over a disagreement at a family function.

This isn’t just flack over a target ... it’s a little like the Earth’s response in the movie “Independence Day.”

So I think we can all be very happy about this. When Liberal zombies tell us “Wow, that Sarah Palin is really blowing it” ... you just say ‘She sure is, isn’t she.’

This is all true, but remember the marxist dictum - “make the enemy live up to their standards”. The media would never report a Clinton bustup on this scale, because it really would be irrelevent - Bill et al don’t HAVE any standards. But the self-styled and aclaimed pin up girl for Conservative, Christian, traditional, child-friendly, anti-abortion family values - well then it’s big news. They don’t care about the Palins per se. They do, however, care about attacking what she stands for through her.

I find it interesting that people even care what happens with the Palins in their ‘personal life’. It's their life to live as they choose or not.

However, I do think Alaskans are a pretty dramatic and emotional bunch....their environment alone would be enough to facilitate that. They laugh loud and hard, play loud and hard...and cry loud and hard. It's their culture sort of thing.

Furthermore, it was a party with booze, music and celebration....and unwanted people arriving at anyone’s party would set the stage for the unexpected.

No big deal in my book....I suspect if Washington Representatives home-life were on stage we'd find as much and likely more harrowing episodes.

And IMO making the conservative movement look like hypocrites.

“Gossip and rumors are not facts”
****************************************************************************************

Nifster, there you go ... trying to ruin the fun of the low information types. Their imaginations are running wild with visions of the Palins being like the Kardashians. The FACT that they are not doesn't impede the limping and lame stream media at all.

Throw out a couple of unfounded allegations about Sarah Palin or her family and the those suffering delusions because of their Palin Derangement Syndrome will repeat and expand upon them.
