Resident Obama’s vow to destroy ISIS rings hollow and sets the course for another American misadventure. Along with allies in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, he refuses to grasp that security can’t be purchased on the cheap.
The cancer has metastasized to spawn terrorist groups and cells on every continent financed through business fronts, extortion and donations. Those recruit fighters from the United States, Britain, France, and all the way to Australia, kidnap westerners and Africans for ransom, and commit far reaching acts of wanton violence.
American bombings in Syria and Iraq will slow down ISIS but hardly destroy it. Leaving moderate rebels to fight both Bashar al-Assad and ISIS on the ground in Syria is folly, even with western logistical and materiel support. Al-Assad with get what he needs from Russia, and western soldiers—not just American—will be needed to fully root out ISIS.
Germany, moderate Middle East states and others lament the withdrawal of American leadership in the face of aggression—be it from Russia or terrorist groups in the Muslim world—but for too long now, those governments have been willing to let, and expect, Americans and a few others to do the fighting. They only provide logistical support and limited money, even though their militaries are quite well endowed through purchases of U.S. arms and their economies well able to bear a full cost of war.
And often these allies turn a blind eye, and permit their businesses and banks to profit from commerce with terrorist fronts.
European governments have even paid ransom for kidnapped citizens rather than wrinkle the uniforms of their soldiers to rescue them. Along with appeasement of Russian aggression in the Ukraine and elsewhere, those have only emboldened terrorist notions that the West and its more moderate Muslim allies are weak, decadent and worthy of extermination.
Terrorism is inspired and financed by the failings of the global economy. Germany, Japan, China, and a few of their acolytes have selfishly exploited global commerce. They pursue export-oriented development strategies that cheat on the international norms for global competition and thrust onto other nations gapping trade deficits, crippling debt and terrible unemployment.
Consequently, youth in too many nations lack any prospect for decent jobs.
Hopeless young Muslims fall easy prey to radical intellectuals offering religious meaning for their despair and disaffection. They end up performing heinous acts and toting a rifle for ISIS.
Obama won the presidency promising to redress global economic imbalances and offering greater economic justice for Americans whose wages are beaten down by the abuses of globalization. And the notion that the latter can be done with little cost by withdrawing the U.S. military from foreign engagements and turning the savings into universal health care and other social welfare.
Terrorists will remain ardent to the conviction that the West is vulnerable as long as the United States and its pacifist allies are unwilling to stand in harm’s way to rescue their own citizens and destroy those who threaten them. Even on a full war footing, the United States military, along with a few willing allies, cannot confront terrorism on a global scale if Germany and others are not willing to step up and fight too.
And, until the global economy functions to ensure meaningful futures for young people everywhere —not just in the mercantilist states of northern Europe and Asia—they will remain easy pickings for twisted ideas. Terrorism will continue an uncontainable threat.
In the end, an American president will simply have to demand and receive more help from U.S. allies, and Americans must be willing to pay the full price for liberty—in money and lives.
I believe Obama is achieving exactly what he wants, tp look like he’s doing something but he will never will do anything to stop the advancement of the Muslim Caliphate.

It has always been this way. But now we are temporarily stuck with an administration that avoids this reality at all costs and works hard to protect and encourage the enemies of America, both foreign and domestic.
I don’t trust Obama on any level. Not what he says, not what he does, not his motives, nothing. So I’m queasy about any military operation he orders.
But I will say that a good model for operating in the muslim world is the model that brought down the Taliban, where you use special operators integrated among muslim allies, backed up by air power.
Its a small footprint leveraging a lot of power. It keeps the nationals themselves front and center and in need of you. It solves a lot of problems in dealing with the populace and the local politics. What do you do with the prisoners? Not your problem.
Even accepting the proposition that ISIS/ISIL is not Islamic, Islam is still the vestigial organ that gives rise to these cancers. If the organ cannot heal itself, we can get along without it.
They are on another imperialist expansion
The only thing that is going to stop them cold in their tracks is if you whack mecca, medina , iran and pakistan. Then give them the word, the rest go if they act up.
These cave men do not understand anything else. To treat them with less is to allow them to progress and get stronger. We are already past our tipping point.

Screw the oil/ minerals. Do it out of principle.
But then again, take enough oil/ minerals to cover the costs of stone aging them. I think they should be irradiated. Neutroned as a minimum. That way we don’t have to deal with the nasty and enduring tell tale radiation. After the stone aging, then cover costs, and administer their resources to rebuild their nations.
American taxpayers have already paid for too many wars to keep global order in check. Let them pay!
I am sure that Israel has a new high tech weapon that surpasses that now. When was the neutron bomb anyway? 40 years ago? They must have an enhanced, new and improved technology that surpasses it by far!
We need to call Israel... but wait! We have to get the muslims and leftists camped in and around the White House out first! Maybe we have to have a 2 week revolution and then move on after the house cleaning.
Like all Muzz terrorists, the ISIS barbarians will be accompanied by wives, concubines, children, captives (before they are cruelly killed), and others with whom they will embed themselves. The carpet bombing they need and deserve won’t be applied because of fear of collateral damage. Has anyone heard of 0bumble’s ROE for this “major anti-terrorist operation?” Oh, I guess it’s a war now, sort of.
I am coming around to agreeing with you, and am even contemplating the idea of informing ALL muslim immigrants in the USA, and their children, even if born here that they must immediately return to their country of origin, no matter how “peaceful” they are, until the carnage stops.
No more visas, passports, students being permitted to attend our universities and colleges. No exceptions for fear of persecution, etc. And, no plane travel into the USA from Islamic regions will be tolerated.
All US aid or weapons given to any muslim country or region, or any country that supports Islam in any way will immediately stop, and any existing treaties will be cancelled, including Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries with whom we have previously had “good” relations.
And, any further attacks on the USA or our allies will be met with bombing of cities, “religious shrines”, and anything else of value we can think of.
And, we must give up this lie that Islam is a religion. It is a system of government, based on total control of everyone and everything. And, since it is incompatible with western values, and does not recognize our Constitution, it must be denied by our government, and citizenship no longer granted to those who follow Muhammed and Islam.
And, if we all have to hunker down, endure some hardship, or rationing, so be it.

It makes me think of Iran and their nuclear program getting ideas and technology from the west.... via sympathizers AND their own straw men corporations.
