PRINCETON, NJ -- The Republican Party has expanded its historical edge over the Democratic Party in Americans' minds as being better able to protect the U.S. from international terrorism and military threats. At this point, 55% of Americans choose the GOP on this dimension, while 32% choose the Democratic Party. This is the widest Republican advantage in Gallup's history of asking this question since 2002.

Poll also reports significant GOP lead over Dems as party more likely to improve economy.

Even Gallup admits that, judging from results on the economy question in previous off-year congressional elections, the GOP seems to be in good shape for November. But their table only correlates with House election results, with no mention of the Senate.

Nice, I'd still like it even bigger!

The problem, as Rush points out, is that GOP isn’t running on anything. This is ALL anti-Obama, anti-Dem. But the Republicans aren’t outlining a vision or an agenda. I have no doubt we’ll win the senate and expand the house . . . then what? More McConnell and Boehner?
