More like a dark and seedy alley.

I reserve the right to spend MY MONEY on stuff I agree with.
Chik fil a comes to mind as do the Dixie Chicks, not.
Liberal pushing movies or their actors will not get it done.

I'm not going to defend the industry. I've actually grown to dislike it.

I made my living as a stage actor and playwright for 30 years. Never made a movie except for industrial training films.

I watched as my stage industry changed. I have acquaintances who have performed and/or produced movies and television. When we were younger, there was no political affiliation. We just wanted to work and perfect our craft.

I am sad to say that, with the exception of a select few, they became liberal commentators, absolutely convinced of their convictions.

They are absolutely wrong!

I enjoyed every moment on the stage. Worked every state east of the Mississippi. I have good memories of my kindred spirits. Just wish they weren't assholes.

I'm gone now 10 years.

Please bear in mind, the stage was my home.

I miss it.

Only the original ones. Those were good 80s TV shows.

I haven’t been to a theater this century. It costs to much and there’s nothing I want to see. All of the good movies are on TCM.

There’s also an 800 pound gorilla in the room called —— Piracy. It’s a taboo subject, but movies being downloaded from torrent sites and uploaded to devices like Apple TV or Roku are taking money away from entertainment. It’s akin to people downloading music back in the Napster days and disrupting the music industry. We will only see this become more prominent in the coming years.

I was a studio jockey, videotape operations, and an uncredited technical director for about 10 years.

I miss the actual job but the ever increasing liberal programs that were being made plus no real hope of advancing very far caused me to bail out.

I am content with producing stuff for myself and sometimes make a few bucks.

We really do need a reason to get up and go into a theatre and eat overpriced snacks and no bathroom breaks and no checking the cell. And films that are either super stupid or attempt to shove liberal politics down our throats aren’t good enough reasons.

TV is doing so much better stuff, screens are great, and there is a pause button. Snack choice is infinite. This isn’t a hard decision.

And the kids that were such a given: they don’t have as much money as that demo used to have, and they can find great stuff to watch online.

There’s not much you can do about piracy.
Locate, arrest, prosecute.
And IF you can get one, ten others will take their place.
Even low tech pirates that record the movie in the theater on a VHS camcorder are hard to stop.........................

Real quick what’s the last good movie you saw?

I think it was called Boyhood. Yeah, this summer. I think the previous was Frozen. I do not go much. Boyhood was worth seeing, though. That is the film (fiction) where the director took 12 years to film, and it was the same actors for all 12 years. The protagonist aged from 5 to 17. I have a son exactly his age so it was like watching the times of his entire life. Very cool, different, characters grew and changed. Three hours flew by. I recommend it.

I don’t think there is much on earth more fun than stage acting. And I only did a little in college.

Yes...eventually every comic including the one at the dentist’s office about tooth decay will have 3 movies and a video game associated with it.

It’s either comic book movies or insipid post-feminism chick flicks. I couldn’t believe how many “adults” were raving about Guardians of the Galaxy.

What these big Hollywood execs fail to realize is when these Big Names pull their shenanigans they loose their screen presence. Tom Hanks for example, couldn’t sell Captain Miller today.

On the plus side, once they turn activist, their careers seem to tank lickity split. I don’t know where the cause and effect curve is but it’s inevitable.

Movies are economy-proof. When times are tough, more tickets are sold. Moviegoing was never more popular in the U.S. than during the Great Depression.

If people wanted to see a movie this past summer, it did well at the box office: Captain America, Guardians of the Galaxy, Grand Budapest Hotel. The problem was the rest of the movies, not ticket prices.

Oh, and the author is wrong when he says studios get a 25 percent return on tickets sold in China. It’s 10 percent or less. Why any studio bothers releasing in China is beyond me.

I was a theatre major in college and did a fair amount of community theater. I phased out of it when I got married, and my job became too demanding. I really don't miss it. I think when I was young and single theatre was a sort of escape for me. Once I was too busy with real life, I lost interest in make-believe.

I don't keep up with anybody I used to act with or direct. They and all my college classmates are the same libtards they've always been. I used to be a lefty myself, but out grew it when I learned to use my brain. I don't miss the stress and adrenaline of doing theatre, but I do miss the camaraderie.

Huh? His films are positively wholesome compared to a lot of the fare that comes out.
